Hi all,
I'm a British nurse hoping to one day work in America, and was wondering if you guys had any advice regarding good revision books/tools for the nclex exam. I bought one book online (lipincotts review) and really it's just a book of questions an answers, not really what I want.
Any suggestions for revision would be great.
Thanks.

If I was you, I would use Kaplan online review course. You get the books to study, and you get access an online testing. The program lets you monitor your progress and indicagtes when you are most likely to pass the NCLEX.
Good luck - I recommend any British nurse to experience nursing the US - you will become a better nurse for it! ANd your efforts will be rewarded, unlike in the NHS

I highly recommend The HESI review with CD $65 or the Davis NCLEX review book.
Kaplan Complete Review is $418 and a very valuable source, questions are much harder -it teaches you test taking strategies and gives you confidence to go with your gut.
Alternative to Kaplan and alot cheaper is: http://www.learningext.com/products/review/reviewfaq.asp#a2
Good luck!

Hi and welcome to the site
I have moved your post to the NCLEX forum as I am sure you will find plenty of information regarding books and plans to use when it comes to the NCLEX. Would also like to point you into the direction of the International forum where you will aslo find lots to look at and would suggest reading threads Primer to working in the US and retrogression as you are affected by it and look to a few years minimum before you will move to the US and that is if you are lucky to get a visa. Also you are apply for licensure of which NCLEX is part of the process. When did you qualify as you may find you are short of a few hours but if you are there is a thread in the UK forum on a university which now is offering catch up courses.
You can find the International forum by clicking the local tab near the top of the page

To be able to send a pm you need 15 posts or more. To send a pm I find the easiest is click on the members name and in the drop down box select send private message. Remember though you have to include all information in the format she asks for
Thanks so much. But how can we know how many posts i've done already? Thanks for the patience.
Look to the right upper part of any of your posts and there is a line for how many posts you have done, they soon add up and yours currently shows 10

Hello all,
Suzanne's plan takes 6 weeks but what if we do not know how long we have? I have applied to take the NCLEX, but have not heard back from Pearson Vue yet.

If you do not meet her requirements then you will not get her plan. The first tip is not part of her plan but needs doing before you can do her plan.
Silverdragon 102,
Thank you for your reply, I love this site, its always rewarding in some way. I am working on Suzanne's part one of the plan -taking quizzes at end of chapter and...my posts. :)
