Hey everyone ! I am from eastern Long Island, and I just graduated nursing school 2 days ago ! I have submitted my application to NYS Nursing Board and registered with Pearson VUE. I am just wondering how far out are the dates for testing and how long did it take you to receive your ATT ? I submitted May 12, 10 days before actual graduation. Also any study tips welcome too ? I do have UWORLD and so far I love it, but I've only been doing 10-15 questions at a time.

Hi! I am graduating from Hunter's program on Tuesday and wondering the same thing...
I am having trouble figuring out if I should go ahead and pay for the NCLEX on Pearson Vue? Did you pay for it already and now youre just waiting for the ATT? The NYSed.gov website says they are only just now reviewing the applications from 4/18 and before so I know I won't be getting my ATT for a long time, but I really wanna secure my place in the queue. I have already paid for/submitted my application to NY state but I am scared I will end up having to pay for NCLEX twice if I pay right now. Unfortunately we have not gotten any information from faculty on how exactly to go about getting our licenses so I feel like I'm flying blind out here.
Re: studying for NCLEX... we were given a 3 day NCLEX course this week (it was AMAZING) and the instructor recommended the Saunders study guide as well as Uworld for studying. She is self-employed so I trust that she wasnt just trying to sell us a product (also was a phenomenal instructor). She also recommended studying in 2 hr sessions/8 sessions per week and doing 2 hrs straight of questions 1x per week during one of those sessions, and to keep doing that until your test date.

Congratulations on your graduation ! I just graduated from Suffolk. Yes, I paid both at the same time. They gave us a NCLEX registration packet and they recommended doing both at the same time. You don't have to, but I registered with NYS ($143) and Pearson Vue ($200). I don't think you would have to pay twice for NCLEX, it would just allow you to schedule the exam as soon as Pearson has your ATT.
I have heard from others, that sometimes you can see your ATT sooner in the PEARSON Vue dashboard, than waiting for the actual email. I registered May 12th but then my school said the administration may not send up info to NYS until mid June !
I think she gave some pretty solid advice. I am going to follow that study schedule 2hr/8xweek, that sounds completely reasonable and will help me stay balanced while I wait ? I have the Saunders book, I actually started using it in school to help study, it is a great book. I also signed up for UWorld and love it, its great to hear others recommend it too. That is great they gave you a 3 day NCLEX review. ATI wanted us to pay $370 for a 3 day review, and after all these fees for NYS, Pearson Vue, I just didn't know if it was worth it.

What state are you in (if NY are you upstate or downstate?) ? I haven't heard of a fingerprint requirement, although we did have to do them before we started Nursing school. Thats pretty quick 2-3wks ! When do you take NCLEX ? Best of luck on your exam !
I'm in NJ. We had to take fingerprints for both. My NCLEX is scheduled for July. Oh btw I graduated 5/1. Thank you !

Congratulations on your graduation!! I graduated from Nassau and we have our virtual pinning ceremony 5/13; however we were given no packet or any direction on how to go about obtaining our licenses. They are offering a free Kaplan test review next week for 3 full days but thats about it.... Should I've already applied to the NYS board of nursing by now? Any advice is super helpful at this point.

Sorry, I haven't been on in a few days. Yes, you should go register ASAP. Go to the NYS Office of Professions and on the sidebar, is the option for Registered Nurse Application. Also check with your NCCC advisor, because Suffolk gave us a special link, specific to our School/Campus, to submit the NYS application. Here is the general link

Choose RN Pathway # 1, since you graduated from NCCC and there will be instructions to submit your application online. NYS also includes a link to PearsonVUE and you also have to register with them for NCLEX testing. It's $143 to NYS, and then $200 to Pearson. You then check your Pearson Dashboard for updates regarding your ATT. NYS will also notify you, but others on the site have mentioned seeing it earlier in Pearson and got the NYS email a couple days after they'd seen it on Pearson. Good luck and let me know if you need any more help ? Congratulations !

Thank you so much for responding. I went and applied with NYS and registered with Pearson this past Sunday. I guess now, I just have to just for the ATT.
@ngulino33 Thank you so much for letting me know about the NCLEX stuff! I will definitely just go ahead and pay for it now. I hope we all get to test soon!! Good luck!

Hello, everyone!
Where did you guys get your fingerprints taken? I didn’t know that that’s a requirement. I’ve never been fingerprinted before.

In NY, I only applied and registered; received my ATT without submitting finger prints. What state are in you?
