NCLEX in HongKong

Hello There!

Is there anybody available there to advice me on NCLEX exam in HongKong. This, I understand is one of the overseas locations where you can sit the exam? What I was curious about is; how often is the exam given? Where in HongKong is the exam centre? I have a rather tight timeframe and a short holiday and I would like to plan in advance as much as possible. HongKong would be the closest exam centre to me at the time I need to be sitting the exam.

Thank You in advance. Geena

Usually, if it iafter the one year time frame, you will need to pay another fee to NY. Best thing is to bite the bullet and just schudle yourself for the exam. With NY, you can find out the results in just two days as well.

Will take a big bite, just relieved to know that no new transcript messes are expected! Taking bullet in March then! (metaphorically of course!)

Hi,

Not really straying from the topic. A little related question. I have a tourist visa, is it wiser to get the exam in US or just get it in Hongkong. I'm in the Philippines. I'm worried about the time it would take for me to have a working visa (in case I passed) if I take it in US. I read it takes 7-12 months after your employer filed for it. I was thinking that if I take it in US, I would consume the 6 months alotted stay and still with no working permit. Any advice? Thanks a lot.

A lot of my friends are currently doing this. By the way things are going they'll go over the 6 month limit and 1 already did although word is that he was able to extend his stay (really don't know if its true) and not all are granted extension.

One more thing is that their are no working visa for a RN.

Just wait for Suzanne. She'll give you a more accurate answer.:)

You must be in the US for 60 days for the AOS to be filed, then it can take another 60-90 days on average for you to receive the EAD, a document that lets you work, but you need a SSN# and you apply for that once you get the EAD. The EAD is not what we call a "working visa," that doesn't exist anymore. This is just a document that permits you to work while your file is being processed.

Time frame for finding it if you passed NCLEX will dpend on the state that you are taking it for, some states it can be by the time that you get home from the exam, for others it can be several weeks, so you need to add that time into the equation. You need to be sure that the AOS is filed before your tourist visa expires, if not, then you would need to file for an extension, and you would need to wait until you got actual approval on that extension, before an AOS could be filed on your behalf. And that could add several more months to the equation, plus not all extensions are approved.
