NCLEX/HESI coorelation

Hey, I took the HESI and got a 1083 (98%), does anyone know if that means I have a good shot at passing the NCLEX? Did anyone do well on teh HESI and fail the NCLEX?

Was this your exit Hesi? Our director of the nsg program said that they have never had anyone fail the Nclex that passed the Hesi. BTW we must pass w/900 or above in order to graduate.

From what I understand, HESI predicts your probability to pass NCLEX. I believe with your scores (which I am VERY impressed with and a little envious of even with my score of 983 and 89%) you will do well on NCLEX. Our instructors stated that anyone scoring under 850 should consider a NCLEX review course. BUT on the flip side, I had a friend do very well with a 99% and one with a 75% and each one passed NCLEX on their first try and neither one took a review course. I am following the advice of SUZANNE4 and am preparing for NCLEX using Saunders NCLEX Review book and CD. I am answering 100 questions a day (once again SUZANNE4's advice) and reviewing the areas of imformation that I feel are my weak areas, i.e maternity and pedi (both of which I loathe...and I am the mother of three kids).

I did very well on my HESI around 950. My college only required 850 for passing. Hate to admit I didn't pass my Nclex this december. So honestly I don't think HESI have anything to do with it. The questions are totally DIFFERENT. Prioritizing is a must for NCLEX. HYPER we have something in common...Ped's and OB was not my strongest areas.

Is there anything that you could have done to prevent failing? You obviously tested very well on the HESI and from what I understand it is greater than 99% accurate at determining the probability of passing NCLEX. How did you study for NCLEX? How long did you wait before taking NCLEX? If you have since passed NCLEX, what did you do differently?

I am currently studying for NCLEX, like I stated earlier, and I am reviewing areas of weakness (YEP, PEDI AND OB). I am also going back into my med-surg books and reviewing some basic information that I feel I already have a clear understanding of.

I feel bad that you failed NCLEX after doing so well on the HESI. I am sure that was un-nerving. Thanks for posting your experience I will keep it in mind as I continue to study.

Rachel to be honest, I need a little more study time and my son just had surgery. So my nerves wasn't the greatest at the moment. I was STRESSED TO THE LIMIT. Did the kaplan review while in school(did all the test and answers) and still have access to it. I just don't think Kaplan was that great. Loving the Saunders book. I waited about 1 1/2 months after graduation before taking the boards. Right now I'm going over Suzanne program. Hope to take my boards over in Feb.

Faith, thank you for the information. It sounds like you were too stressed to concentrate on NCLEX, but your son comes first and I applaud you for taking care of him. I am also using Saunders. I had signed up for Kaplan but because of scheduling conflicts I am not able to take the class. I think the key to passing NCLEX is finding the right study aid. I feel confident that Suzanne's program will be beneficial to you. Hopefully you will be in a less stressful situation in Feb. and will be able to focus and pass NCLEX.

Hopefully before the end of January. I have not gotten my ATT back but I expect it within the next week. I have been reviewing for some time and I feel ready, but that feeling could change on test day!

Hey,

I just graduated on December 17th and not gotten my ATT yet. I plan to take the NCLEX b4 the end of January also. I am going to prepare with the Saunders book and answer lots of questions daily after the holidays. I am considering taking the HURST review but also not sure if it is worth it.
