NCLEX exam without going to nursing school?

Are you eligable to take the NCLEX exam without going to a nursing school? For example, if you graduated with a BSN in another degree and just want to take the exam?

You must be approved by a state board of nursing in order to sit the NCLEX... and every state that I'm aware of will require verification of successful completion of an approved nursing program prior to giving authorization to take the NCLEX.

On a side note -- BSN stand for Bachelor of Science in Nursing... therefore you cannot get a BSN degree in another degree.

Become a nurse without ANY clinical experience/ education? Tell me you are joking!

The short answer is no. But the longer answer is if you live in a state that allows you to use military corpman (medic) experience in lieu of nursing programming, you can challenge a practical nurse exam. I'm not up on all the details, and it is rare, two, maybe three states? But in order to be eligible for that you would have to show medic experience in the military comparable to a nursing program. If you have that, contact your State Board of Nursing to investigate the requirements. If you do not have that military background specifically, then you can forget about that route altogether. In a nutshell you must go to nursing school to become a nurse. Good luck to you.

You go ahead apply for nxlex they will let you know if they'll approve you or not. I graduated Bsn and they let me take my Cna, lpn and Rn. And fyi we had a lot of clinical experience graduating as a Bsn. Bachelor of science in nursing is a 4 yr course. And its not just a associate degree in nursing which is a 2 yr course! Lol

Yes you can take ur nclex test. Ur a graduate nurse! You dont have to study nursing again. Go ahead and apply so ull know all the requirements.

I think you misunderstood the OP. She doesn't have a BSN. The OP has a bachelor's degree in another subject.

LOL. Not gonna lie, there have been multiple times I wished I could just sit for the NCLEX-RN without having to go to a bridge program. :p
