To Q bank or not to Q bank???

Nursing Students NCLEX

I have two Kaplan books and I am torn as to whether or not I should buy access to the Q bank questions.

I can see the value in practicing lots of questions on the computer ~ as that is how the NCLEX will be taken.

300 bucks is pretty steep though...

Can anyone tell me if the Q bank questions are similar to the Kaplan book questions?

Opinions on spending the extra money?

hi there!

i took a kaplan review class and i am using the q bank. its really helpful!! you can set it to specific content areas to answer questions on. it also averages all the scores you get on the practice questions so you know how you are doing.

i am taking the nclex june 19th!!

good luck :) :)

I would say do the Q bank. It has been really helpful...there are soooo many questions, and it gives rationales after each question. I am doing that and the Saunders review book, plus reviewing my school notes. I take my test June 18. I am nervous!!!!

Good Luck!

after taking the nclex yesterday, i would highly recommend the q- bank as well as the question trainer. be sure to review the questions and understand why they are wrong. the question trainer consists of seven nclex like tests and they are very simalar to what was on the nclex.

good luck and let us know what you decide.

hi moms2bears :)

i am using the kaplan online materials also.. how did you feel question trainer 7 compares to the nclex? i just spent 3 hours working through it and scored a 61 .. i have been getting mid 60-70's on all the other question trainer sets.

i really feel that the question trainer 7 is very similar to what you will be exposed to on the nclex. the questions trainers are great. i didn't feel like there were any surprises when i took the nclex. i also used nclex-rn for dummies. that helped me sooo much it explained how to answer questions in a simple matter of fact way. i felt nclex for dummies was a great complimentary piect to kaplan.

best of luck,

Mom2bears,

THANK YOU for your comments. There is so much study material/propaganda out there and its hard to know what may be worth purchasing.

I think I will fork out the cash for q trainer.

Congratulations on completing the NCLEX and let us know when you find out that you have passed!

Kizzykatlove,

Thanks for your input on q bank!

I too am waiting for my ATT. It had been 4 weeks Monday since I received confirmation that the State received my application. I called yesterday and talked to a really nice person who looked up all of my info and told me that my application was approved. He said that I should receive my ATT in 7-10 days (next week). That info. set me at ease. Now I'm starting to worry that all of the dates will be full and I'll have to wait until August to take the test, lol!

Not sure how long you have been waiting, but I'd certainly recommend calling if it's been 4 wks.

Thanks again, and I'm gonna purchase access to kaplan q bank!

i really like q bank.. well i called school today to find out if my transcripts were sent to the BON and the school told me they thought they were sent ..ugh..and will resend them today , so i can get my att,,,who knows.. i hope i get to take this test soon.. i hope i can take it in july at least... good luck jessi keep me posted

I attended a Kaplan live review course as well as doing the online Q bank and I highly recommend it. By doing questions on a daily basis I built my confidence level in preparation for the NCLEX. By the time I completed Question trainer 7 which consisted of 265 questions I felt that the NCLEX couldnt possibly be any worse! (smile) Long story short I did the Q bank and the question trainers. I took my boards on May 22 and passed!
