I loved the triage questions. this is how I tackled them. First use your ABC's whose airway breathing or circulation is compromised? They are who you assess first. If no one is in that advance on to maslow's heirarchy of needs,a nd find out whoose basic needs are not being met, theya re the one you see first. ie a pt in a wet bed is bad, but not as bad as a pt who is wheezing and may progress to complete airway obstruction. Good Luck.

what is your result?

The instructor said that to answer priority questions, you should always ask yourself which patient is experiencing s/s that are UNEXPECTED for the diagnosis. For example, a patient recovering from a bronchoscopy who is complaining of a sore throat is less of a priority than a patient who is post-op from a TURP and having red blood in the catheter.

I agree ... that's what Kaplan teaches you. Airway isn't always the right answer so, don't always go with the ABC's ... per se ... if it really isn't a critical issue with the diagnosis.

They tell you to look out for what they call "distractor" answers that seem right, but are actually designed to throw you off the path of the right answer. Airway is one of those potential distractors.

Sometimes the obvious answer is right but, a lot of times, it's not.

Help! I'm getting 50-55% on Kaplan book test, am I not ready fro NCLEX?

With Lippincott I'm getting 70-80%, NLEX scheduled in one week. Should I reschedule?

Thanks to repliers!!

Don't worry! I reviewed from Kaplan & Lippincott and I don't think I ever got more than a high "D" on any of the review tests the first time I took them. However with repetition, the Kaplan "Strategies for Passing the NCLEX" was the most helpful. Eventhough I left the exam feeling VERY unsure...I passed after 75questions!

I just took my Nclex today. The computer shut off at 75 questions. I do not know if that means I bombed it or aced it. Any ideas?

I took it today and also cuttoff at 75, I did not have a good feeling about it, however, a close friend had the exact thing happen to him last week and he passes. He called me after the exam and said he felt like he didn't know any of the answers, he was almost in tears. This is the first test that I have taken and didn't have a clue on how I performed.
