Please be careful when helping people

The problem is that if she send her Kaplan password from her computer and if she didn't have firewall or other protection program can be happen that the "bad person" enter in her PC on some of her computer open ports and monitor almost everthing that is happen in her PC (also will know her new changed password). So she can change thousand of time her password wil not help her at all.

May be seems to be like in X-Files but it is real thruth.

Best think: put a good firewall, Norton is the best.

Well...this seems to have evolved into a computer type of discussion, which is not a bad thing considering all the actual computer problems poor Soon2Be is having. I have Windows XP and it automatically has a firewall built in. My most helpful suggestion for Soon2Be is to take her computer to someone reputable- or a trusted friend who really is knowledgeable about computers- and have it checked out for viruses/spyware etc to get to root of the current problem. In trying to figure out how to be helpful to her I'd suggest that she first find out what really is going on in her computer (because no point in changing passwords.etc until you resolve the underlying problem; if your computer's security is compromised, there will be access to changing passwords as well). It sounds like the root cause of all her computer problems, or whether a genuine security risk exists at present, is still not really known. Could be a virus, could be spyware...could be not too serious at all...who knows?

Soon2be- You are very kind hearted. And I am sorry you have been taken advantage of. Please follow the above advice and have a firewall installed right away. This person will continue to mess with you until you can lock them out. You also may consider turning your computer off when not using it.

I know you have heard this a million times. There are some horrible horrible people in this world. And although allnurses is one of the best sites I visit, they can not assure that everyone on here is who they say they are nor their intentions. Please file this under lesson learned and protect your big heart. DO NOT TRUST ANYONE!

I think it was very kind of you do that! However I bELIEVE u should have given the acess to kaplan after u have known for certain that u pass nclex and don't need to use it anymore. Many atimes u hear people say "I let my friend use my my account after I passed and did not need it anymore". What u did was gracious and in my opinion u can't blame this person. u gave them th e codes and u expect them to use it as they are preparing to take nclex as well. Meanwhile I reccomend u change your password and usename.

i do agree with what some of the other writers have suggested about changing your account numbers, passwords,and even your contact numbers. you may even need to choose a different internet service provider and close out any existing account. you may to write them to follow up any phone calls to prevent any future abuses. the main thing is you do whatever you have to do to be safe.

write/call and inform these places that you have been victimized and need to specify a code word that only you would choose. insist that any changes to your account must have the exact code word attached. (some places call it a pin number or a picture symbol if done online)

i was a victim or crime and fraud abuse an i am still paying the consequences....emotionally as well as finacially. it is a horrid thing to think you are doing the right thing and then later finding that you have been betrayed and then victimized

Listen, anti-virus is something totally different. If your going to go that route go with Norton Internet Security Suite. My husband is a sys admin. He gets paid a lot of money to help big companies secure themselves. This is what he recommends: get rid of the norton products, they are resource hogs and introduce security holes, there are 4 free products that will fix your problem,

Avast anti-virus, Ad-aware, spy-bot search and destroy, and microsoft windows defender. These are all online. You have to use all of the 3 anti-spywares together to catch it all. The other is anti-virus.

Some people don't know that its illegal to pass along passwords and such for Kaplan Trainer & QBank, but it IS illegal to share your password (or sell it) and have someone else use the online program that you paid for. And really everyone: what is wrong with that? Someone has to pay to support the company, the web program & updating material, and all the salaries. But back to the OP's question: you CAN buy a used Kaplan book and CD that is a year or two old on Ebay (from when Kaplan used to do questions on CD, which they stopped because people were re-selling and/or copying them). Its not illegal to do that, but the risk is that some content will be out of date. Most won't be. Good luck to you!
