Now what, my pre and post kaplan test did not change....

Nursing Students NCLEX

I am confused. I took the Kaplan review. The first day we were given the assessment test, and I scored a 70%. 3 days later I took the readiness test and I scored a 70%. I mean, I had exactly the same score on the last test! What are the odds of that? They told us that if our grade did not change much it did not mean we did not improve, as they said the second test was harder than the first test, so it means we did do better. I am just thinking about it, and it is really not a good way to determine an improvement in score after the class if they change the test. Am I thinking about this wrong? I have scheduled my test for June 30th, and I am SCARED out of my mind! Any thoughts? Is a 70 a score you would feel confortable having when you set up your test date? Or do you think more time would be needed?

I am doing Kaplan online, and it tells us that you want a 65%, so 70 sounds good to me. I think you'll be OK, but if you don't feel OK about it, study more, that's about all I can tell you! You should still have access to the Qbank, so do more questions until you feel more comfortable.

Good luck!

what about your kaplan q trainers? and kaplan q bank?

I just got started on the trainers and have not yet gotten to the qbank questions yet, so that will come. On the first 3 trainers I averaged a 64. I think I am heading in the right direction. I just see there are so many posts from grads that have failed and I think it is scaring me. I am going to take trainer 4 today and see how that goes.

what did they say at kaplan should u aim for? 65%? or 60 - 65%?

I wouldn't worry about it. Keep on plugging away. Good luck.

They said that scoring a 65% is equivalent to having a 95% chance of passing on the NCLEX, so that's what you want to aim for.

beautsbelle, a 70% is a great score! It's ok that the number didn't change from your pre and post test because

your first score was already over what they recommend to pass!

I got a 62 on the diagnostic and a 61 on the readiness. I got in the mid 50's-low 70's on the qbank question and trainers. I took nlcex today and I am guessing I failed, but doing every single question over and over probably wouldn't have gotten me to pass. I am praying I passed. I will find out Sunday or Monday and let you know.

PS - My ATI predictor said I had a 99% chance of passing nclex the first time, so we shall see.

My ATI predictor had me at a 98% probability of passing the first time. I hope you did well! Please do let us know how you did! I am not looking forward to the several days after the test waiting for the results. Last night I took trainer 4 and thought I did fairly well. I hit that end button and POOF, there it was, looking me in the face. 59. I must be doing something wrong. My overall scores are going in the wrong direction. But the actual break down of each section, like care and comfort, management of care.... most of those sepcific content areas are above 50, so that is what they said we should aim for on the specific areas. Each test I had at least one content area below 50, but the most I had in one test below 50 was 2.

I am putting together my study plan this weekend and I will hit it hard next week. I am going to have a little family fun this weekend and try NOT to think of studying or NCLEX for at least a couple of days. The kids are only kids once, and after 5 years of nursing school part time, they deserve my attention for awhile.

Have a great weekend!

I am scheduled for June 30th. That gives me 3 solid weeks of studying. Too soon????
