NCC Spring 2021 NASSAU COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Published

Hi Everyone, I am a Liberal Arts student at NCC right now and interested in "Change of Program" to Nursing for Spring 2021. I have almost all the Pre-reqs done with 3.7 GPA. Only thing I worry about at this moment is the TEAS Exam. I did not take the TEAS yet and due to the COVID-19, there's no any test date available in my area. Do you guys know if they would consider my application without the TEAS? Please let me know if you know anything about this situation. Thank you

I’m very doubtful that they’ll take your application without a TEAS. Have you tried brainseed testing? My TEAS test got cancelled last month at NCC and brainseed in forest hills was the only place that was still testing. Or you could try signing up for TEAS at PSI. I would just look at every location and give them a call to see if they’re still testing. I had to relocate my test to a place that wasn’t in my area either but it was worth the distance because I ended up applying for the fall just in time and got accepted. You have until September-October to start applying anyway so hopefully more test sites start opening up by then!

Thank you so much for letting me know. I found a place at New York city that is doing the test remotely and registered for it. Hopefully I get good score and get in to the Program. And congratulations on your acceptance!

@Goalhunter Thank you, and that’s great! Good luck on your test! And word of advice, you get breaks in between each section, so I would definitely take a break before proceeding to the next part of the test, it really helps. Even if you just stay seated and take a breather to let your brain rest. I took the TEAS twice and the first time I zipped through and scored too low on the science part, the second time I retook the test 9 days later and took breaks and made much much better without even studying extra.

Thank you so much, yes, I will do that. If you don't mind, could you please tell me if you used any study guides or just the A&P notes?!

@Goalhunter I had an ATI TEAS study book which was OK, it showed an outline of what topics to expect. I pretty much watched a lot of Khan academy which is what REALLY helped me, but it literally takes weeks to go over everything so I only ended up watching respiratory, cardiac, digestive, and endocrine system. I also watched this Youtube video which helped a lot too, just super long.

And I bought the practice tests from the ATI website which is 50 dollars and comes with 2 TEAS tests and 1 A&P test. The questions on the real test are super similar to the practice ones and is a good way to see how much you know, like I literally made the exact same grade on the real test that I made on the practice one. There are some Chemistry questions on the real test though about the periodic table and balancing chemical equations which I did not expect and I’m sure I got wrong. I didn’t really use any of my AP notes because I only studied for 2 weeks and wanted to just cram as much videos as possible but I probably should have. The questions will literally be on every single system in the body, and it will be something so small that you may not even remember to study.

Thank you so much. I am taking the test on May 30th. I am using the ATI manual and my A&P notes. Hopefully have enough time to cover everything that I need to. And yes, watching videos helps me a lot to remember than just studying my notes. I will try to do it for all systems. ?

How did you do on your TEAS test? Also, are you applying for the day or evening program for Spring 2021?

I didn't do well... Got 77% overall. Planning to retake it in August. ?

It’s okay I think that’s good! I got a 76. I’m nervous because I’m not sure if I should re-take it or not.

I got in the program with these scores ::

overall score of 82.7

reading 89.4

math 90.6

science 74.5

english 70.8

took the test 2 times to get these scores because I scored too low on science the first time

I am trying to get at least higher 80s because I heard they get like 400 applications but only 50 or so get accepted. I would just try one more time and see. Hopefully we all get in. ?
