Western Civic involves a lot of reading and research. You have to finish assigned readings, post 2-3 discussions, reply to other students' posts (min. 3), and an essay for each module. It's doable with Nur101 but I would recommend taking it in a Summer session. it's not required up until nur 204, so, you have time. Yes, I do have healthcare background. I am a CNA for over 6 years now.

Hi, the chances are very low, unless you are straight from high school. One of my classmates got accepted without any prerequisites because he was straight out of high school. for "change of program" students and students transferring from other colleges, they expect to have at least A&P I and II done before applying. Now, that doesn't guarantee acceptance because they prioritize people with the most prerequisites done over less. Also, as a second-semester nursing student, I think it's good to have all the prerequisites done before nursing classes because it's very hard to take a nursing class together with other science classes. Specially NUR 101 is so time-consuming and you will be spending your time mostly on concept maps, skill checks, and so on. But don't let this discourage you if you are really good at time management. some people do it with full-time jobs and kids. I just wanted you to know what it really is. you can always apply and see if you get in. If not, reapply next semester!

Following classes are prereqs for nursing: ENG 101 Composition I MAT 102 Introduction to Statistics PHI 110 Bioethics PSY 203 General Psychology I AHS 131 Anatomy and Physiology I PSY 216 Lifespan Human Development AHS 132 Anatomy and Physiology II AHS 202 Medical Microbiology BIO 131 Pathophysiology ENG 102 Composition II You need to take them before applying to the Nursing program. Even though you don't have to have all 10 done before application, you have more chances of getting accepted into the program if you finish at least 6 classes. but remember, the more classes you have, the more chances to get in because Nassau uses a point system. For each class you took, you receive points according to the grade you get. (a grade of C or better.) You also need to take the TEAS test and I guess you should get over 58.7 scores in each section. (Again, higher scores better). Plus if you're a Nassau resident, they will give you extra 5 points. At the end whoever scores the most will be accepted into the program. To keep your chances of getting accepted into the program high, you should finish as many prereqs classes as possible with higher grades. (C or better). I highly recommend you to attend Nursing Information Session. Professor Buckley will answer all of your questions and they will tell you what exactly they need and how the point system works.

You can still apply. You don’t have to have all prerequisites done before applying. However, the more classes you have gives you more points therefore more chances to get in. Good luck with your application ??
