Nassau Community College Nursing: Fall 2021 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey guys! I know it’s kinda early, but I figured that I’d start a thread for the NCC Nursing applicants for Fall 2021. Here we can post our stats, discuss the program and freak out together while waiting for admissions decisions? here’s what my stats look like:

I took the TEAS this year (end of May 2020) and got a 77.3%. However, I’m retaking it in July for a more competitive, and hopefully an advanced/exemplary score!

Prerequisites that I completed (all from Suffolk CC):

Anatomy/Phys I: B

Anatomy/Phys II: B

ENG 101: B+
ENG 102 (Literature): A

Lifespan Dev: B

Modern American Hist: C

Psych: A

Statistics: A

Sociology: B

Western Civ: B

Medical Micro and Biomedical Ethics: To be completed during the Fall 2020 semester

Pathophysiology: To be completed during the Spring 2021 semester (hopefully!)

The only disadvantage I have right now is that I currently live in Suffolk County. I know that priority is given to Nassau residents, and I’m not really sure how the school calculates their admissions decisions (and I couldn’t find a rubric on the website). I look forward to hopefully meeting some of you, and hopefully we‘ll all be in Nursing school together one day!!

You're not applying for Spring 2021?

I don’t think I can. I believe there’s only room left for the people that are already enrolled in NCC for the “change of program” option. Otherwise, I would have totally been all over that!!

Hello! I just graduated from Nassau's program in May. There were several Suffolk students in our program, as well as Queens and Brooklyn students. Do not be discouraged. Nassau residents receive 5 points for being a resident, but if you have the grades, you can surely get in. Hope you get in. Good luck!!

Hey guys!! Crazy update, but I actually ended up getting accepted in to Molloy’s BSN Program that starts in Spring 2021!! I still plan on applying to Nassau for Fall 2020 just in case something goes wrong with Molloy, (even though I doubt it) but I couldn’t be more ecstatic!! PLEASE make use of this thread and talk to one another! I have faith in every single one of you!!

no, you can apply for the Spring too... you just have to have more than 6 pre-reqs classes taken with a grade of C or better and scored above 58% on TEAS

I didn’t take the Nelson Denny! Only the TEAS is required after admission, but they don’t look at the overall score to determine your preparedness. They just wanna make sure you score above certain percentages on the Math and Reading Comprehension sections; if you don’t, you have to take remedial courses. Luckily my scores are high enough and I can go straight in to the Nursing courses!!

I had no idea!! Even though I’m committed to Molloy, I’m curious to see if Nassau would have accepted me too!

I applied to Molloy as well. Do u know how to check the application status on their website? or should I wait for their mail?

I just recently took the TEAS (last week actually) and got a 86%. I’m thinking of retaking for a more competitive, and hopefully an exemplary score!

Never applied to a program before.

My cumulative GPA us a 3.6 and prerequisite GPA is 4.0

I havent take medical micro or pathophysiology yet and won't be able to before the Fall 2021 deadline.

I'm also a suffolk resident.

I missed the deadline for Soring 2021 by a few days bc I still needed to take the TEAS at the time. Deadline was Oct 9... I took TEAS October 13.

I wanted to find a testing place that was in person as I knew a remote proctored test would be too distracting for me ( I have a 13 month old daughter)

Covid ended up canceling 3 other TEAS I had registered for in March. Ughh

Oh well. Everything happens first a reason, or so I tell myself.

Anyone applying for the 2nd or 3rd time? How have your stats improved? I'm so nervous

I feel like I've been "talking" about applying to a nursing program forever and now it's really happening.

Exciting and nerve wracking!

I'm applying to Farmingdale's advanced standing program too. Maybe Suffolk too?

Anyone else applying to other programs?

Also this would be my second degree. I feel "old" (I'm 35) applying but I know it's a mixed age group going in.

Honestly my mom went back to school when she was 48 to be a nurse (after no school since high school in 1978!) So if she can do it, so can all of us! I still don't know how she did it while going through a divorce and just beating breast cancer!

Hi! I am applying for the Nursing program 2021. I am signed up to take the TEAS for 10/29/2021.

I have taken these pre reqs-

ENG 100 Enhanced Composition  C-

HIS 3345 Modern American History  C-

MAT 102 Introduction to Statistics   B+

PSY 203 General Psychology I    B+

I took a literature class and got a B+ but I'm not sure if they will take that class over the C- for enhanced comp.

I am wondering if any of you had similar grades and still got accepted?

Could use some good news ?

Hey all,

Excited to finally apply to the Fall 2021 program come the new year. Finally finished up the prereqs after 2 years and took the TEAS. I also feel like this has been quite the journey before the journey had even started yet. ?

@coffeeface You’re not old! It really is a mixed bag; individuals from all age groups are in the pre req courses. I’m 32 and this would also be a 2nd degree for me after 11 years of being in corporate.
