Nau Nursing Spring 2016

Published

Hi everybody, I decided to start this post because I spend all day everyday looking for answers that will calm my nerves about applying to yet another nursing school program. I currently have all of my prerequisites complete and I have a GPA of a 3.75 (is that GOOD?). I have not taken my Kaplan yet so I am hoping some people that have already take it can comment on her and give their advice on hard it was and what the best study materials are. It helps me to hear other peoples stories so I can kind of base my situation off of theirs. I'm hoping that my GPA is good enough and if I get at least a 85 on the Kaplan that I will get into the Tucson location. With only 20 spots available it just makes me a little nervous. I want this to be a post where anybody can post question and get answers in order to clear up confusion, or help people who are like me and just need some reassurance on their GPA and Kaplan score.

That's good!! What did you use to study??

I used the Kaplan study guide for the math and it was really helpful. I'm not a math person at all but it only missed 3 on the test. I didn't stidy for reading or writing. I'm so old I figured I wasn't going to learn anything new lol. The science part I spent the majority of the time studying for. I used youtube videos and watched about the various body systems. I would've used an a and p book bUT I don't have mine anymore. I feel like that would be very helpful to use!

Cocobean, what were your individual Kaplan scores? your overall is good! The GPA poses an issue though. If you don't get in, retake the classes that you got a B in to boost your GPA and reapply. Are any classes in progress?

I think it was 95 reading, 89 math, 76 writing, 70 science. I have Bs in my liberal studies classes and math, and statistics . That really brought it down. Yeah I have PSY 240 in progress, everything else is done. I've been really bummed about my gpa.

Good job! Don't stress, there's really no way of knowing who will get in. Hopefully its just the three of us haha

Lol thank you! I hope no one else applis too!

Today was the deadline. I'm so nervous, I wonder when they'll start going through applications!

I was unable to apply because I didn't meet the science requirement so now I'm just hoping to get into ASU! I did so well on all of the other parts of the test but the science killed me! My other scores were like 86, 89, 81!

I'm sorry, I know the science part was tricky! I wish you the best of luck with ASU!

What is this kaplan test you refer to? Is this the same thing as the HESI?

It's a different test than the HESI. I haven't taken the Hesi, so I'm not sure how they're different. NAU uses the Kaplan.

I am starting to get nervous! The letters will be going out sometime early November. If I don't get in, I will be so sad. This has been a goal I have been working on for years now. Hopefully we all get good news!
