Nau Nursing Spring 2016

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hi everybody, I decided to start this post because I spend all day everyday looking for answers that will calm my nerves about applying to yet another nursing school program. I currently have all of my prerequisites complete and I have a GPA of a 3.75 (is that GOOD?). I have not taken my Kaplan yet so I am hoping some people that have already take it can comment on her and give their advice on hard it was and what the best study materials are. It helps me to hear other peoples stories so I can kind of base my situation off of theirs. I'm hoping that my GPA is good enough and if I get at least a 85 on the Kaplan that I will get into the Tucson location. With only 20 spots available it just makes me a little nervous. I want this to be a post where anybody can post question and get answers in order to clear up confusion, or help people who are like me and just need some reassurance on their GPA and Kaplan score.

I'm nervous too! It's hard to wait this long! Why do you think the letters will go out in November? Did you hear something? I was hoping it'd only take the 4 weeks lol. Do you know if rejection letters go out the same time? Do you know other people who are applying?

I was told by the admissions department that everyone should receive their letters by early November, but worst case scenario the letters will arrow by mid to late November. I have heard from past students that acceptance letters are sent in a Manila envelope and that rejection letters are in a standard envelope. We will also receive email acceptance/rejection.

Oh okay. I was hoping it would be before November, but that's okay. Time just seems to be going by slow. Which campus did you apply for?

I applied for Flagstaff, which one did you apply for? And I wish they sent out the letters sooner. I mailed in my application in early September and then confirmed they received it, so time is going by especially slow for me. If I don't get picked for the guaranteed spot, I am hoping that I will make it on the alternates list and make it in that way. I have read stories of students who were like number 11 and higher on the list and they still get in. Fingers crossed!!!

I applied for flagstaff as my first choice and yuma as my second. I didn't receive any confirmation that they got my application. Did you ask or should they have told me? Now I'm nervous over that lol. I'm really hoping to be at least an alternate for flagstaff. I'd be happy to go to yuma too but I love flagstaff and would rather go there! I'm in bullhead city az right now and I miss the cooler weather that flagstaff has. May I ask what your gpa and kaplan scores are? I'm happy that there hasn't been a lot of people on this thread. Hopefully it's because there's not many applicants out there

That is so funny! I am in Lake Havasu, Az. My GPA is a 3.54 and a 75 Kaplan. I recently graduated high school (2015) with my Associates in liberal arts (I did the DE program through MCC). I completed my prerequisites through this DE program. I am hoping that we both get in, because it has been a dream of mine since I was little. And since all my schooling is done, I don't want to be stuck here another six months waiting for fall.

That's so cool that you're in Havasu! You definitely know about the heat then too lol. I hope we get in! That's awesome you've always known what you wanted to do. I'm 26 and feel like I finally figured it out. I did a year of dental hygiene at nau in 2010 and stopped there. I now am married with 2 kids, one who has Cystic Fibrosis. She's the reason I wanted to go back to school and go for nursing. This seems like such a long wait to find out :\

That's awesome that you got inspired like that. We will have to keep in touch to find out if we get in.

Yes, definitely!

So I just confirmed that the latest we will find out about acceptance will be November 15th. So we will be finding out if we get in any time between November 1 and November 15. I am so nervous!!!!! Time is going by so slow!!!

Oh my gosh, thank you for getting information! I'm dying over here lol it has gone by so slow! Did they tell you anything else? Will we get an email before the letter? I'm glad I'm not the only one on here! It helps to know I'm not alone! !

The email goes out the same day as the letter. Not sure if that means it goes out when they put the letter in the mail or if it goes out when the letter is supposed to arrive. Personally don't like the idea of an email. Would rather get the news from a letter. Super nervous, I don't think I'll be getting in, but it's always nice to hope. My hope is that there is not a lot of applicants this semester.
