National University SD Cohort 59 July19

Published

Hello future nurses,

I have recently applied to cohort 57 for National University in SD and was denied then decided to skip cohort 58 and get more study time in for the next cohort. I am not as nervous as I was in the first time I applied, people seem to be getting higher and higher teas scores which makes the program more difficult to get into, which is good it challenges all of us. When I took the essay i was super scared and didn't practice all the prompts, I didn't score well but scored better then I though I would have.

I am excited to hear from others that will be applying for the cohort 59 for July 2019!

could someone email and see how many applicants are still going through with this cohort? I bet we've come down a few from 200

I think it’s less than 150 now

I have the same GPA, mine is a 3.675 and my TEAS right now is a 77 hoping to get to the mid high 80's and then study for the essay all of january before the test date. The TEAS is difficult to me in a way that you need to relearn everything and the part of not knowing what answers you got wrong so you know what to study for or change the next time you take it. I recommend taking the TEAS with your final score before the test date that way you go in with your best and can always take it at National and maybe score higher or give them the score you brought in. For the essay it is 60 minutes and very stressful the first time because everyone is in the same room and once they say go everyone is typing and its loud and you are trying to think so practice timing yourself in a loud room so you know you wont distracted by others around you.

Good Luck!

Did you apply?

Hi All,

Does anyone have the calculation method to determine what your overall average is?
Also, when do we find out what we scored on essays?

Thanks,

Liz

We don't find out what our essay score is, you just find out whether you were accepted or not (but i would assume you can ask after u get accepted). From what I have heard they do whole numbers, one person could grade you a 4 and another a 5, and your essay score would be 4.5, but I am not 100% sure on that.

total score:

TEAS 40%: (0.TEAS score) *40

ex: 94.4 TEAS = (0.944*40) = 37.76 points

GPA 40%: 4.0 would be 40 points, 3.9 = 39 points. 3.65, = 36.5 points etc

Essay: 20% We don't know this, but you can guess and play with the numbers, by multiplying your guess score divided by 5 (1/5, 2/5,3/5,4/5 or 5/5), by 20!

ex: 3/5 = 0.6

0.6*20 = 12 points

So in this situation, add up all the points:

(37.76 + 40 + 12) = 89.76 points (ish)

If this is wrong someone correct me ASAP!! pleasE!!

Thank you so much. That's how I had figured it but just needed some verification and reassurance! I'm so anxious!

Good luck to everyone!

Good luck to cohort 59!

I got an email today saying there were two spots for cohort 58. I won’t be starting anymore with cohort 59 because I accepted 58. I will be starting this April. So much luck to all of you!!! ❤️

Thank you!

I received a 3.75 on my essay (not a good grade in my case). However, that time I applied to cohort 58 was with a TEAS grade of 87.3% and a 3.65 GPA. The overall points were 85.99. This time I applied with an 89.3 TEAS score and from where I stood with my previous essay and 3.65 GPA, my points were 86.79, but Elizabeth was going to use my highest essay grade. I believe there was one more denied student from cohort 58 that was going to be accepted as well.

I know it’s a waiting game, but I know everyone is going to fulfill their dreaming of becoming a nurse.

Aww, thank you for the words of encouragement. I have a 3.58 and got an 89.3 on the TEAS, now I just have to wait and try not to stress on how my essay was...good luck in school!

Do any of you guys know the actual date in July this cohort starts?
