National University SD Cohort 59 July19

Published

Hello future nurses,

I have recently applied to cohort 57 for National University in SD and was denied then decided to skip cohort 58 and get more study time in for the next cohort. I am not as nervous as I was in the first time I applied, people seem to be getting higher and higher teas scores which makes the program more difficult to get into, which is good it challenges all of us. When I took the essay i was super scared and didn't practice all the prompts, I didn't score well but scored better then I though I would have.

I am excited to hear from others that will be applying for the cohort 59 for July 2019!

See, you have a high chance of getting into the program. The essays are scored out of 5. Was this your first time taking the essay and TEAS? I might defer to cohort 60. I am not too sure about my TEAS and GPA score. I have until midnight to make up my mind before my test date.

This is my first time applying. I heard some horrible stories about essay being the deal breaker so I’m starting to go crazy since yesterday. ? What’s your GpA and current teas score if you don’t mind me asking?

I don't mind at all. I have a 3.6 GPA and an 89.3% on my TEAS. If I do continue with my process for cohort 59, I will be retaking my TEAS and I will try to aim in the 90's. Yes, the essays weigh a lot in the points. They told me to take the essay very seriously.

The bad thing is that we don't know what essay we will be getting.

Second time. I missed the cutoff from the previous cohort. However, my points have surpassed cohort 58.

I think you're in a really good position for this cohort! I know that doesn't ease the worry but I really mean it! Your TEAS and GPA alone give you 74.48 points, which is awesome! Can you give an honest judgement of what you think your essay would score out of 5? (Be brutally honest, I don't think i did better than a 3/5 lol) They have two people read it and give a score, and then the two scores are averaged. Then that score is equated to x/20 points and added to your 74.48. Play with the numbers, i bet you'll find it pretty motivating!

I would focus on the essay. I fell into the same mindset trying to study for the teas and make it better, when really all it would do is give you one or 2 points extra. I wish I had prepped for the essay better, and I really believe that I might have sunk my chances even with the GPA and TEAS I have. I believe on other cohort pages there is a list of essay topics, and those are what we got! Nothing weird.... but getting a full 20 points would do a lot more for you than an extra 1 or 2 on the TEAS side. GOOD LUCK!

I think it’s a 3/5 as well. I’m just probably disappointed at myself. Oh well, it’s all done so waiting is all I can do for now. But thanks for some positive thoughts. Really need it for the next six weeks.

Yes, I did. Was I indecisive? Yes. Am I stressing out? A little. Should I have waited for cohort 60? Maybe.

I took a leap of faith and whatever happens, happens. If this door closes there is always next time and there are still other great colleges. We are all going to reach our goal no matter what. Good luck to everyone! ?❤️
