National University San Diego Cohort 66

Published

Hello Pre-Nursing Students! I thought I'd start a new thread since the application deadline for Cohort 66 is only few months away.

I plan on applying for November 2020 deadline. I recently transferred from a community college and will be taking BST 322 and ILR 260 with NU. I will also be taking the TEAS by October. Please feel free to share your stats: GPA, TEAS, work experience, second degree (if any).

What are your stats?

My GPA is 4. TEAS is 86%. I wanted to re-take the test but decided to relax  :)

OK, guys! Now I feel more confident because I was accepted into two nursing programs in Nevada and Utah. I talked to my advisor and he said that students only began labs. Still no clinicals. Without clinicals, we can't graduate and take NCLEX. Meanwhile, life continues in other states with clinicals in person. I really love NU, but if nothing changes, I'm ready to relocate and obtain my degree outside of California.

I’m glad I found this forum. Sometimes it feels so lonely trying to navigate all these programs and points.
I’m applying this round too.
my GPA is 3.92 and my TEAS is 86 and I have work experience as a surgical tech so hoping it’s enough to a least score a interview

Those who were accepted recently, could you drop your stats?

I plan on applying to cohort 67. Only studied for 2 days for TEAS for the first try. Plan on getting a lot more study time in and re-taking it. So much stress and pressure! Ugh!

GPA: 4.0 and TEAS: 81.3

Hey guys!
Quick question for you. I’m going to apply to cohort 68. Does anyone know if it’s a point based system? I am a recruiter so I fulfilled Public Speaking. NU is trying to tell me to take the class at NU because it will count against me that I didn’t take the class and receive a grade basically. I haven't attended the forum yet. So if anyone has any input I would appreciate it. Don’t want to take a class I don’t have too. But also would like to get in ASAP obviously. Thanks guys!

Hi Ashley,

To my understanding, National only looks at your Science and Math GPA (Anatomy and Phys 1 and 2 with labs, Microbiology, and Biostats--this stats class is specific to National and I haven't heard of anyone taking a different stats course at a different institution and it being counted), your TEAS score and if you are invited for an interview, your interview. Those are the only 3 criteria they base your points off of. Something like volunteer work, CNA, employed at a hospital, etc. will not award you additional points like other schools, but is something the selection committee can ask you about in the interview portion. I do believe though that if you are a hospital corpsman, for example, you get an additional point. I'm sure you've seen this before, but this PDF outlines the requirements for being evaluated for the Nursing Program: https://www.nu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/NEW_Nursing_Programs_Packet_Revised_September_2020_1_.pdf

In terms of how to get your Public Speaking written off, that's something an advisor would have to check out for you. I'm not sure if you have documentation, but for NU, they're very picky. I have a second bachelor's and already took Microbiology, but NU didn't accept it so I had to retake it all over again to apply. I believe it's possible to "test out of" or challenge the decision, but again, I feel like you'd have to work with an advisor to get that form and process going. I'm not entirely sure, but it's worth a shot before spending $1600 or whatever it costs to take it. Best of luck and I hope it works out!

Good to see everyone else as nervous as myself. I do not have a medical background and I am debating retaking the TEAS before the applications are due.

Current stats: GPA 3.9

TEAS Score 86.7%

Re -took the TEAS.
current stats are GPA: 4.0 and TEAS 86.0

around what scores were admitted last cohort? And wondering if  national has experienced an increase in people applying since Covid?

Hey! So happy people are getting more active in this thread now that the deadline is approaching. It’s been killer waiting those extra 3 months from the original deadline being pushed back. But only 2 weeks away!

I assume there will be more applicants since the deadline was pushed back 2 days before it was suppose to close in November, so everyone that was applying for 67 for the now deadline will probably be applying with the people from the original deadline back in November. But you never know! You can also check cohort 65 thread on here to see what the stats were! I believe from the counselors they said the average TEAS was an 86 or 87 and I think the GPA was a 3.7 for cohort 65 back in august. Also congrats on your retake of the TEAS!

Hi all!

I am also applying to the next cohort. I just finished BST 322 this week and asked for an Official Transcript  Review to access the app, how ling did this take for you guys?

My Stats: prereq GPA 4.0, TEAS 94%

I also applied to many other schools because I have doubts about taking on so much debt, and also heard this cohort may not start until October..

You have very competitive stats! Where did you hear about this cohort being extended? We've already been pushed back once to a July start date and we're just about a week and a half away from the deadline...
