Hello Pre-Nursing Students! I thought I'd start a new thread since the application deadline for Cohort 66 is only few months away.
I plan on applying for November 2020 deadline. I recently transferred from a community college and will be taking BST 322 and ILR 260 with NU. I will also be taking the TEAS by October. Please feel free to share your stats: GPA, TEAS, work experience, second degree (if any).

So I attended the mandatory zoom Jan 14th for the upcoming application date (Feb 12th app deadline) for the next open cohort (supposed to be July start). They said that they were having problems with the previous cohort (supposed to start April).
I assumed because people were posting their stats so recently this was for the July 2021 start
When they said previous cohort, do you know if they were talking about 65? The original deadline for this cohort (66) was supposed to be in Nov., but got extended until Feb. 12th. What was supposed to be an April start date for Cohort 66 is now July 2021, so I think what you're saying is you're applying for this cohort. Is that right?
I apologize if I'm not making any sense. I attended the pre-nursing forum back in Nov. Since then, all I've heard is this cohort's application was extended, which means the start date has changed. I feel like I've been left out in the dark with no idea what's going on since we're in this waiting period haha
No worries, I am glad we're sorting it out. I could see how that would be frustrating if you were trying to apply in November but could not re-apply until now. And yes I am applying to this cohort (deadline feb 12)! I wasn't aware that the November cohort didn't get to apply/get selected already.
I looked at my notes from the pre-nursing forum and they did not specify which cohort # was being pushed to start July.
Hi Everyone!
I thought that I'd post a couple updates that I found out about our cohort. So, cohort 65 is being reduced from 53 students to 40 students. Those extra 13 students will get to defer into cohort 66 or cohort 67. For the foreseeable future, cohorts at National will only be 40 students. This is because of covid and the limited capacity to place students at clinical sites. So this means that there may only be 27 spots for cohort 66 applicants! (Depending on whether or not some cohort 65 students choose to defer to cohort 67 instead.) Since they delayed applications last November, I am thinking that there will be A LOT of applicants and less than half of the spots we thought there would be (53). So if you do not get an interview for cohort 66, do not be discouraged. I emailed the nursing department to confirm. And they said that this was all true. They also said that this WILL count as an "attempt" so apply only if you think that your scores are competitive enough to at least get an interview. Good luck guys!

Thank you so much for sharing this information. This is the first I have heard of this. I emailed my advisor to try and confirm this as well. They should have communicated this information to applicants. Someone like me who does not have the perfect TEAS/GPA but has extensive experience in the medical field stands almost no chance of getting an interview (where the experience would matter) when the pool of applicants has most likely doubled, and now the spots have been cut in half. They should not hold this attempt against us since this was not something most of us were aware of.

I talked to my advisor and he said that students only began labs. Still no clinicals. Without clinicals, we can't graduate and take NCLEX. Meanwhile, life continues in other states with clinicals in person. I really love NU, but if nothing changes, I'm ready to relocate and obtain my degree outside of California.
which school did you apply in for Nevada and in Utah? many people are moving out of california since it is getting so expensive! now moving due to nursing programs haha I am so up for that as well, would be easier if I didn't have kids :(

I’m applying this round too.
my GPA is 3.92 and my TEAS is 86 and I have work experience as a surgical tech so hoping it’s enough to a least score a interview
I know that is what I said! I felt so alone in this journey! but finding this forum made me feel a bit better. Best of luck to you! I hope we all get in. I at first thought it was postponed because there wasnt enough students signing up but I guess we are competing against a lot of people! YIKES!

This is a bummer. I asked the Nursing department many questions, which they failed to answer. If I have known this I would not have wasted an attempt ?

I absolutely agree! and I think I will have to message them about this/ The more students who voice this, maybe they can erase this attempt some how
Did anyone use Straighterline for their science and lab classes?

Hi,
Roseman University (one campus in Henderson, NV and one in South Jordan, Utah) and Ameritech College of Healthcare (Draper, Utah). Both schools have accreditation, both have ABSN programs (16 months in Nevada and 18 months in Utah). I have kids too. My husband will stay in California, and I will go to Nevada or Utah with kids. I'm not sure if NU accepts me (my stats: GPA is 4, but TEAS is only 86%).

Has anyone heard anything back yet? I'm sure they will be held over zoom.

I agree- The more people who voice it the better. I have a phone call with my advisor on Monday, I plan on voicing this concern. Especially since they were able to waive application attempts for previous cohorts that were adversely affected by COVID.
