National University San Diego Cohort 66

Published

Hello Pre-Nursing Students! I thought I'd start a new thread since the application deadline for Cohort 66 is only few months away.

I plan on applying for November 2020 deadline. I recently transferred from a community college and will be taking BST 322 and ILR 260 with NU. I will also be taking the TEAS by October. Please feel free to share your stats: GPA, TEAS, work experience, second degree (if any).

Who was your advisor? I find that alot of them say whatever you want to hear, and won't tell you straight up that an 86 and above is what you should get to have a good chance. I had to pry it out of my advisor. I constantly asked what grade do I atleast NEED to get to have a good chance and she said 86. I honestly feel like they make so much off the pre reqs but I guess it is business. I worked my butt off, and this happens. It will be backed up for a while since the next group will apply to the next cohort, and so forth. They have ppl in cohort 65 moving into 66 or 67 of there choice which means, it'll take atleasta year or even longer for it to get back to normal, unless they open up another BSN class, and accept double the amount of students... which I don't see why not. haha just mean more money for them.

It was a girl at first, I forget her name, but she was the one that seems very confident in my scores. Then I was passed along to a guy named Sergio, who of course didn't say anything further on it. I should have been more on top of it, but I was fairly new to this whole application process.

I have the phone call this up coming Monday! I think I will also contact the nursing department because you are right- the advisors don't really seem to help that much.

Moral of the story: There are other schools out there guys! Don't lose hope. If you're dead set on applying to National, retake your TEAS to make yourselves more competitive and then reapply ?

I've looked into Roseman University, but I have heard its essential to live there full time while in the program. I just relocated to San Diego for my boyfriends job so I'm not really wanting to move again plus I have a great flexible job here. Also that would mean having to pay rent in two cities which sounds horrible.

I would be willing to do an out of state program and travel back and fourth if it was only part of the year/month where being in person would be required. I was looking at Ameritech University in Utah, and they advertise all lecture based classes are virtual. Has anyone reached out to them to see if at least that part could be done out of state?

Hey! I was going to possibly attend Ameritech in utah and start in January but then I decided I needed to stay out here and the BSN part can be completed all online! Look into their accreditation when I was looking into it , in June they weren’t regionally accredited but were actively in the process of getting it so just double check on that.

I'm accepted at Ameritech. The first semester is completely online, and you can live out of state. It's true. All lectures are online with labs and clinicals in person. If I'm not accepted here, at NU, I will go to Utah. In addition, I found a great option in Arizona at Creighton University (12 months ABSN).

my stats: GPA 3.5 TEAS 87.3

how long is this program? is it the 18 months? and does it require you to have a bachelors?

How did you guys get notified about the interview? Was it an email or through the message center via your student portal?

Ameritech has an ADN program (20 months), then bridge from RN to BSN; if you need BSN, it's a 3 years program. For Roseman, if you want to apply for ABSN without a previous bachelor's degree, you must complete 56 or 60 credit hours. ABSN at Roseman is 18 months (block system).
