National University San Diego Cohort 66

Published

Hello Pre-Nursing Students! I thought I'd start a new thread since the application deadline for Cohort 66 is only few months away.

I plan on applying for November 2020 deadline. I recently transferred from a community college and will be taking BST 322 and ILR 260 with NU. I will also be taking the TEAS by October. Please feel free to share your stats: GPA, TEAS, work experience, second degree (if any).

Hi all,

Excited to finally join this group and hopefully meet you all soon! Some background info on me—I graduated with a Biology degree and a minor in Chemistry in 2017 from CSUSM. One of my greatest accomplishments to date was speaking at my commencement ceremony and surprising my parents (they literally had no idea and were besides themselves when they called me on stage to deliver my speech ?).

Like many students who major in the sciences, I was set on going to medical school. I took a year off to volunteer as a STEM VISTA, supporting underrepresented minority groups in the sciences. I assisted with the running of the science tutoring center at CSUSM (where I tutored Bio and Chem for 3 years as an undergraduate). When I was done with my year commitment, I volunteered at Scripps and UCSD. While studying for the MCAT, I was assisting nurses in Urgent Care and Med Surge. It was then that I was convinced med school might not be the right fit for me. I went back to school at National to complete pre-reqs that didn’t transfer over and studied for the TEAS once I was done with all my science courses.

With that being said, here are my stats going into the application:

GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 95.3

Best of luck to all! We got this ?

Wow! You have quite an in depth resume! Those are all awesome achievements and it sounds like you have a strong passion for the medical field. Are you applying to any other schools other than NU? With stats like that, I feel like you could get into any CSU or UC!

I’ve been doing pre-reqs at National for just about a year, so I committed to applying here. The nice thing about NU is that it’s an ongoing enrollment and there’s multiple application cycles in a year and if accepted, I’d start in the Spring. Most deadlines for Spring 2021/Fall 2021 SD nursing programs have either been postponed or passed and on top of that, I’m not sure if I want to worry about credits not transferring over again or taking additional pre-reqs. I’m keeping my options open though—it’s very competitive down here.

Me again, haha. I was able to get my GPA up a little. My new new stats are 3.89 and 94 TEAS

Hi Brezo—you have great stats! You sound like you’re a competitive candidate. I applied for 66 almost a month ago, under the 2nd Bachelor’s application. I wonder if this cohort will be as competitive as the previous two. The trend for average scores seems to be trending up...

I too wonder who else is applying. For those that are applying, could you please drop your science and math GPA and TEAS? Good luck to us all!

Hi Brezo,

Temecula here. I know quite a few people applying with impressive/competitive TEAS scores and GPA. I am not feeling too confident. I wish I had more time to study for my TEAS because the more I read into it, the more everything is coming back. On the bright side, February is the next cohort & if I don’t make it into cohort 66, I’ll have 3 months to study for 67, more than enough time to study lulz..

I think we all have worked really hard and your efforts show in your heart & that’s what really counts; giving it your all. We cannot control who gets in, but I truly believe we will all eventually become RNs. Time and place. Good luck all.

I’m not sure what my GPA is because they consider + & -.

BST: A

A&P 1: A

A&P 1 lab: A-

A&P 2: A

A&P 2 lab: A

Hi 2girls1cupnoodle,

What is your TEAS score?! Your GPA shouldn't be a problem if you have all A's. Yes,we will all become RNS!I believe if you want something in life you must work hard and not give up!
