National University San Diego Cohort 66

Published

Hello Pre-Nursing Students! I thought I'd start a new thread since the application deadline for Cohort 66 is only few months away.

I plan on applying for November 2020 deadline. I recently transferred from a community college and will be taking BST 322 and ILR 260 with NU. I will also be taking the TEAS by October. Please feel free to share your stats: GPA, TEAS, work experience, second degree (if any).

Your science and math GPA makes up 40% of your points to get in! With all A’s, you’re at a huge advantage. Honestly, the English section has the lowest weight in your overall TEAS score and (I believe) the least amount of questions. Focus heavy on studying your science and reading. Try to be solid on basic algebra. If you can get comfortable with grammar rules, prefixes, and the parts of a sentence then you should do well on the English section. I’d recommend getting a book to study with practice tests if you don’t already have one ? I’m sure you’ll do awesome!

And from what I know, they do not take into account if you’ve taken the prerequisites with them or elsewhere. You just have to have everything completed. The majority of the people that have gotten in took everything except for BST and ILR (if they didn’t just test out) at other colleges.

I would say I don't care about math and science sections, but reading comprehension and English?. Especially reading...I try to understand logical conclusions, but my brain is out?. Will see.

I am so nervous about this. I have a 3.95 math and science GPA and an 89.3 for the TEAS. I have no healthcare experience. I’m wondering if I should retake the TEAS.

Wow! I’m applying for the first time to nursing school ever at National for this cohort. I currently have a math and science GPA of 3.4ish right now but I have an A in Microbiology, I retook it as a refresher and to raise my GPA with the A it will bring me up to a 3.6 and I’m taking my TEAS tomorrow for the first time and will retake if I need to before the deadline. This forum stressed me out. How did someone have a 4.0 and 86 TEAS and not get in? The averages for last cohort were like 3.6 and 84% TEAS or around there according to the most recent forum I was in. I’m shocked! I’ve been scoring mid to high 80s on the practice tests on ATI. I also have watching science with Susanna on Youtube to review for the science portions. I have both the trivium and mometrix ATI TEAS secrets books.

I’m hoping I do well tomorrow if not I’ll be down to join a study group. If anyone wants to add me on Instagram @amber.swish

Now back to studying ?

Right??? That’s such a good application it seems. How did you do on your TEAS?

Sadly got an 80. I should have studied longer. I really only went hard for like a week. My reading was way lower than it should have been I hadn’t been concerned because I did so well on practice test and I should have slowed down. I am retaking it Wednesday. Going over all I missed non stop right now (they show you categories to work on at the end thankfully) and taking a bunch of practice tests, it’ll bump up if not I’ll schedule it a few days before the deadline and really just buckle down and study.

Honestly if I don’t get like a 90 at least I will probably be taking it a 3rd time. ?

How everyone doing with studying? Just finished my TEAS and received a score of 95%!    I feel so relieved. I’ve been studying a ton for the past three weeks ?

CONGRATS! That’s big! Do you have any tips on improving your TEAS score? I feel like it all starts to look the same after a while. Anything you did different this time around?

I took my TEAS today, 5 days after my first attempt and got an 84 going to retake it Nov 9.

Thank you! I’d say what helped me the most was studying and practicing all sections, rather than just focusing my energy on science. The questions can be worded a bit tricky, and even though I felt like other portions of the test were “easier”,  it helped me to review subjects I hadn’t refreshed on in awhile.
