National University San Diego Cohort 66

Published

Hello Pre-Nursing Students! I thought I'd start a new thread since the application deadline for Cohort 66 is only few months away.

I plan on applying for November 2020 deadline. I recently transferred from a community college and will be taking BST 322 and ILR 260 with NU. I will also be taking the TEAS by October. Please feel free to share your stats: GPA, TEAS, work experience, second degree (if any).

Have any of you bought the practice tests from the ATI website? Looks like their "online practice assessment package" that include the both practice exams are on sale for $80 & an additional 20% off on top of that! (I like to save money ? I've heard they're very helpful.

Hey! Add me on IG! TheBsnBrunette

im scheduled for Nov 2 for my TEAS. It will be my second time taking it. I took the practice exams and I don’t feel they helped much. I loved nursehub. They have 50% off

My gf just finished her nursing forum and said if your GPA is low, it’s critical you at least score a 85 on the TEAS to be considered. She also said you can take the TEAS multiple times, so I think I’m going to take it twice so I know where I need help. I am confident in English, familiar with science,  but struggle with math. ;( hopefully my GPA will be in my favor. It’s so hard for me to find time to study for the TEAS while I’m taking a class ??

Does anybody know where what you score you at least have to pass?

@2girls1cupnoodle

I have emailed the National U's Nursing Department and they said "there aren't any particular score that is required but the average score of those getting accepted into the program range anywhere from 83% to 89%". It also depends on the average of all applicants. Top 90 gets invited for interview, then top 53 students get accepted into the program.

My GPA is also my biggest concern. I got B’s in all science and A in bio stat. So I need to score high on TEAS.

I used the Mometrix study book and looked at videos on Youtube/Khan Academy for refreshers as well.

How’s everyone doing? Studying for TEAS?

Hey everyone! I've been a little MIA on here but I wanted to reach out to all of you! My TEAS is scheduled 10/29. I'm ready to get some study groups together! My IG handle is @jackieeeee.r (5 E's?)  Pleeeease message me if any of you are willing to meet up this month! Obviously we're in healthcare & will maintain our distance & wear masks ? but I think it'll be super helpful if we all can study & together get into this cohort!

Hey Jessica! I messaged you on IG this morning!

Let's get a study group together! I'm trying to ACE this TEAS. Haha

I'm scheduled 10/28 but I'll be registering another test for the first week of November, in case I don't score well the first time. I don't feel like Im ready for it.

Hi everyone!

I will be applying in November to cohort 66. I was chosen as an alternate for cohort 65. To give you guys an idea of the grades needed to be considered, I received A’s in all prerequisites except for anatomy (with a B). My first attempt TEAS score was 86%. I am a licensed human phlebotomist and have 5 years surgery experience in veterinary medicine. I will be retaking the TEAS a second time 10/21 to try to improve it to at least an 89%. I used the Mometrix book my first attempt and I’m now working through the entire Trivium TEAS prep book. I also downloaded an app with practice questions that I work on daily! It’s called ATI TEAS study prep (shows up at Nursing School once downloaded).

Unbelievable! You have a great TEAS score, high GPA, experience and no in a program??????. I don't believe it. I think, I don't have a chance. I have all As for prerequisites, but I know that my TEAS will not be good because of English.

Guys, is it true that students, who completed all prerequisites at NU, have a greater chance being accepted into a program?

@OlgaFutureRN You should still apply especially if you have 4.0 GPA. You never know until you try. And I don't think NU is biased. Most of us are transfer students and people get in (regardless of school) because of their overall scores (GPA, TEAS, interview). I think some people retake their pre reqs at NU and end up getting in because they've improved their grades.

But I wonder if anybody else has heard about this?
