National University San Diego Cohort 66

U.S.A. California

Hello Pre-Nursing Students! I thought I'd start a new thread since the application deadline for Cohort 66 is only few months away.

I plan on applying for November 2020 deadline. I recently transferred from a community college and will be taking BST 322 and ILR 260 with NU. I will also be taking the TEAS by October. Please feel free to share your stats: GPA, TEAS, work experience, second degree (if any).

Hi all- I will be applying to 66 with a 3.78 GPA, and I’ll be taking the TEAS in Oct.

Good luck with the TEAS! I just took mine yesterday and got an 89.3.

Hello future nurses,

I will be applying to cohort 66. My last class is psychology and I haven’t yet taken the TEAS. My current cumulative GPA is 3.8. The only medical experience I have is dental assisting and I’m not sure if that will help me.

I live in Temecula if anyone needs help with with their prerequisites or if you’d like to study the TEAS together!

Wow! That’s pretty impressive. I have my TEAS scheduled last week of October. I wasn’t able to take it this September because of my Biostat class. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I really need to do well on the TEAS to make up for my low GPA. Thank you!

If I were you, I wouldn’t be too worried. You’ve got a competitive GPA and direct patient care experience. Make your own experience stand out during the interview! National U isn’t point system unlike community colleges and state. They only look at your TEAS, math & science GPA, and interview scores.

Hi Jessica! I feel like I’ve seen you in other threads. Is this your first time applying?

Hey hardworkingandhopeful! I take biostatistics next month as well. I hope I get to meet you in one of our discussions. I'm new to National U, so I'm still getting used to the blackboard.

Im not too sure if they consider work experience in their decision-making. From what I have read so far, they only consider Math & science GPA, and TEAS score to be eligible for the interview. But work experience might help during the interview.

I am taking BIOSTATS right now. I wonder if we are in the same class!

Are you taking it with prof. ensign?

Yes first time applying! I had to retake micro lecture and A&P 1 lecture to raise my GPA. I took the TEAS in July and didn’t score nearly where I need to be in order to be competitive. I’ve been working on bringing up my scores to be competitive for years now! Hopefully I can find people to help me study for the TEAS here in San Diego!

Is anybody else applying to other nursing schools? I think some schools have the application deadlines toward end of this year. Please share some accredited nursing schools you know of. I don't want to miss the deadlines especially those schools with only 1-2 cohorts per year. Thank you!

Hello future nurses,

I'm taking my last prerequisite, Microbiology, now. So far, my GPA is 4, but I'm concerned about the TEAS score. English is my second language, and I think a reading comprehension part will be my deal-breaker. I will take a test in November.

I am taking psychology right now as my last prerequisite for NU’s nursing program. After this class, I am taking Chemistry & Algebra so I can apply to other schools. I know CSUSM has a deadline coming up soon, but I need chem and algebra to fulfill those prereqs. I contacted Point Loma Nazarene University, but they aren’t accepting applicants until next fall.

What other schools are you looking into?

NU and Azusa. One negative moment about Azusa is a lot of prerequisites, including organic Chemistry, biochemistry, and statistics. If I'm not accepting into NU, I agree to go to another state.
