National University San Diego-April 2012 Cohort

Published

Hi,

Anyone else on these threads applying to NU's April 2012 cohort in San Diego? How do you feel about TEAS V? I wish you all luck . I'm not so sure I'll get in :uhoh21:. I scored a 70.6% (slightly higher than National's average across the US and for our specific program), and I'm a fairly decent writer, but I have a C in A/P 1 (class and lab) and B's in A/P 2 (class and lab) and Micro (class and lab). I earned an A- in Biostats and have never reattempted any classes. I'm thinking of retaking the TEAS again and getting the ATI study guide this time around to try to bump my score up to the 80's.

Would love to hear from anyone else.

Hi JakeH, I also applied for the april cohort at NU in San Diego. I was so upset with my TEAS v score, I got an 67.3% which is not a very competitive score. It is so much harder than the TEAS iv, which I scored an 87.65%. I have all A's in the nursing core except a C in micro. My GPA is 3.78 but I am still worried that my application may not be strong enough. I talked to, she who will not be named, and she said willbe not get our essay scores until after we have fond out in we were accepted or died into the program. They say it is easyer to change the status of your application then to mail out ll the submitted essays. I plan on taking the teas again too to bump my score up and put in a lot of study time. I hope we both get in!!!!

Hi nissy_nc,

Thank you so much for the reply! :D I agree that the TEAS test was GRUELING :bluecry1:. I had a study guide but it wasn't ATI specific. I wish I scored a lot better than I did also, but at least we can always re-take the exam (I plan on doing this ASAP!) I heard from many people that version 5 was a LOT tougher than version 4, so don't beat yourself up (especially since the national average for this version is right around 70%). I do like that we get a print out showing what we need to study so we can re-test and score higher the next time around. I did email "She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" also and asked a few questions about when and how to re-take the TEAS. She did say that there will be the opportunity to re-take the TEAS before the application deadline for April ends, so we have this time to study up on the areas we could improve in (in other words, there's still hope!)

Your grades and GPA seem great and if you scored well enough on your essay this can also help your chances. I'll be rooting for you!! :w00t:

Hey,

Have you guys heard anything yet?

I got an 82% on my teas and have A's and B's on all the prerequisites. I feel like I did ok on the essay but who knows!! I tried to tell myself that they might not get back to us until the very end of the month but I am freaking out!! I want to know already.

Good Luck!!! and Please post something when you hear!!!

Hi Jennbraemer,

I haven't heard anything yet but with your grades and TEAS score I'm sure you'll be fine! If I hear anything I'll let you know. :)

Good Luck to you guys! I also applied to this cohort and have not heard anything back as of yet. I have all A's in my prereqs and a B in micro. I only scored a 74.7% on the TEAS so I don't think that will be enough to get me in. The TEAS was a lot harder than I had anticipated :-/

You never know! There were people on previous threads who scored a D+ average on the TEAS (ver. 5) and had similar grades and they still got accepted. I think a lot of it falls on your essay and the number of applicants for each cohort. I agree that the TEAS was rough...I aced the math but didn't do so well on the parts of speech section (and the life and earth sciences...what's really odd is I got a 100% on scientific reasoning). The parts of speech stumped me. My pre-reqs are OK but not stellar (C in A/P 1, B's in Micro, A/P 2, and an A in Biostats). If I stand any chance of getting in it will be as an alternate, but even then nothing is guaranteed and I believe you have to go in when they say there's a spot open (I'm hoping to get in and then defer for 6-12 months to save $$$), but I predict I won't make it into this cohort with the 200 applicants that have most likely scored better than me. :uhoh3: It's going to be a looooong weekend. Good luck to you!!

Have you figured out you total points pre-essay? I figured my total to be 79.5. Some posts I read from cohort 29 who were accepted said their total points were in the low 70's. This is so nerve-wrecking!!

Yes, I believe I am in the mid-sixties so I'm going to have to score an 85% on my essay to have an 80 point overall score. I've heard so many different things that I don't know what to believe, but if the total points for acceptance is in the low 70's that makes it sound more promising!

...and I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting in with your points pre-essay. :)

Hi all !!! I finally joined after reading all the posts for months :) I wish you guys all luck.

I applied to cohort 30 as well and hope we can all get in together. Were sup to hear something by end of jan but I bet we won't hear anything till Feb and its driving me crazy!!!!

I am sorta freaking out though as Navyvet11 has 79 points before essay ? I have about a 73 ish before essay and pretty sure I calculated it correct. 30% grades , 20 number of attempts on grades , 30 teas and 20 essay.

I got about a 79 on the Teas and 3.93 gpa.

I hear cut offs past two years are between 80-85. Maybe higher as of late .

If I score a 3/5 on essay ( which I feel I did not do well on) that puts me at 85!! But I could have scored a 2 which would put me at 81 I believe.

Jake , don't give up hope !!! I hear people with C 's get in all the time !!

I feel my teas is not good enough. !!!! Has anyone heard anything ??!!! They said 4th week of jan. ...I think I'mGoing insane. Lol.

You know what is stressing me out the most ? The teas for April cohort was sup to be in Nov but it was delayed to dec. ( I called and usually they would have had results by jan , but it was delayed this time). Technically we would have had time to apply again by Jan 10th for julyCohort if we don't get in but now we will have to apply April 10th for October cohort. I just want to start already !!!
