National University San Diego-April 2012 Cohort

Published

Hi,

Anyone else on these threads applying to NU's April 2012 cohort in San Diego? How do you feel about TEAS V? I wish you all luck . I'm not so sure I'll get in :uhoh21:. I scored a 70.6% (slightly higher than National's average across the US and for our specific program), and I'm a fairly decent writer, but I have a C in A/P 1 (class and lab) and B's in A/P 2 (class and lab) and Micro (class and lab). I earned an A- in Biostats and have never reattempted any classes. I'm thinking of retaking the TEAS again and getting the ATI study guide this time around to try to bump my score up to the 80's.

Would love to hear from anyone else.

Thanks pasta! I'm actually male! Lol and I guess I was computing my points incorrectly? Lol. I don't mind giving you my stats. I've taken all the prereqs only once and I have an A in A/P I/II (lecture and lab), A- in bimed stats and a B in micro (lecture and lab). I scored a 74.7 on my TEAS. Definitely gonna retake the TEAS if I don't get into this cohort. Still don't know about essay score. If I bump up my TEAS score I'm confident I'll make it into cohort 32 so that's my ultimate goal.

Navyvet11 - is that you in the FB group? I noticed the other person in there has a background of being in the Navy as well. For those who are in Cohort 30 please free to join the Facebook group: "National University San Diego Cohort 30" , ---- is the admin. Hopefully we can get to know each other some more and pool all our information about classes, books, reminders, etc. :)

Lol, I suppose you did calculate the points wrong? Oh well. I really also think with your stellar grades, all you need to do is score higher on the TEAS for a guaranteed spot. Did the email say anything about alternate status and what that means? I really hope you get in! I am sure when you find out you will, it will be a happy moment! You should find out around orientation date, which is March 9th as I am sure people will have decided by then if they want to NU or not. We should be finding out our essay scores soon on the NU portal (they said a few days since Saturday)...so maybe in a week :) That wil really give us where the cut off points were :) Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Some follow up:I called "You Know Who" today and discussed my overall score and the cut off scores. I earned a 78.56 overall score, and the cut off for guaranteed admission to cohort 30 was a 84.04 (alternates scored a minimum of 82.14 points). I got a 4/5 (16 points) on my essay which is ok, but I'd like to average a 4.5 (or a 5 ideally) to get a 17/20 or better. I basically missed being admitted by 5.28 points. I feel a lot better after speaking with you know who since she was very understanding and very helpful with giving me advice on how to get in to the next cohort. If I get an 85%+ on my TEAS and bump up my essay by 1 point, I'll go in to the next application period with a 84.05, which may barely get me guaranteed admission depending on the cut off and at the minimum an alternate spot, so there's hope!I was asking she who will not be named about how I can score a 5/5 on the essay. She stated the graders are looking for:-Substantially unique ideas that provide insight, breadth, and depth to the question you are answering-Demonstrate a solid understanding of the english language-Have impeccable grammar, punctuation-Provide seamless transitions from paragraph to paragraph-Answer the main question and stay on topic.Hope this helps...onto the next application period!

Wow good info Jake. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks so much for the info !!!!! I wonder how I can knowMy score ? If I call can I ask you know who ? Our scoreBreakdown is supposed to be in the Nu portal but it isn't up yet.

I didn't get in!! Pretty bummed but I will reapply. Congratulations to all who were accepted! My overall score was a 77.76. My science GPA isn't great but I received a 4/5 for my essay. The maximum points I can get for the next application period would be 87 ish. Should I reapply?? What were the max points of those of you who were accepted?

Definitely re-apply; guaranteed acceptance scores are right around 84-85%-you can do it!!

did anyone here apply for the may 2012 cohort at the LA Campus? I just took the teas and essay test and I did not do so well. i'm really frustrated.

Hey guys. For those of you who were selected, were you guys charged the orientation fee when you log into your SOAR? If so, on what date? Thanks a lot!
