Anyone else on these threads applying to NU's April 2012 cohort in San Diego? How do you feel about TEAS V? I wish you all luck . I'm not so sure I'll get in :uhoh21:. I scored a 70.6% (slightly higher than National's average across the US and for our specific program), and I'm a fairly decent writer, but I have a C in A/P 1 (class and lab) and B's in A/P 2 (class and lab) and Micro (class and lab). I earned an A- in Biostats and have never reattempted any classes. I'm thinking of retaking the TEAS again and getting the ATI study guide this time around to try to bump my score up to the 80's.
1st attempt= 3 points, 2nd= 2 point and 3rd= 1 point. Add all your points and divide by 21 (the total points possible). Multiply that number by 20 (%weight).
Thanks alot navyvet11. I'm at a 69 pre essay assuming I did all the calculations correctly. Hopefully my CNA experience counts as something after everything is calculated.

Hey navyvet11, I may be doing the calculations wrong ? What was your gpa and teas ? Did you retake classes ? I got 79 teas. Didn't retake classes and got 3.93. My points pre essay is about a 73. I feel it's so much lower than yours ?
Hey. I didn't retake classes, all A's except for a B in Micro. I got a 74.7 on my TEAS so your points should be higher. Did you try to figure your points using my calculations in my previous post? That was from the official worksheet I got off from National University.

Hey navyvet11 , your score is a great score!! I did mine according to your advisor's worksheet and it's 80 something but it just dosnt make sense. The gpa part is weird.I think gpa is just actual gpa / max ,so say 3.3/4.0 x 30 . With advisor calculation, If I already have 80 ish points And essay is out of 20 , then I'm over 100. Perhaps it's just a diff way to calculate it ? When I talked to you know who she who will not be named , she said its out of 100 points and they take top 50. I also saw calculation methods on other forums and it seems to be : gpa/4.0 x 30, attempts is 20 percent , teas 30 and essay 20. I think my score is a 73 ish pre essay. Yup it's so nerve wracking !!! I'm thinking email next week, and yes, I thought it was confusing too because I figured some would be over 100!! I think you should be good though. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Let me know if you hear anything and I will do the same.
I don't know why you would do your GPA out of 4.0 though? If the max is 7 units (on a traditional scale), then the points possible would be way higher than 4.0, factoring in 7 prereqs?

Hey :) this points thing is nuts huh ? Well the 7 classes have different weight because some have more units than others. For example lab is only 1.5 units while lecture is like 4 or 4.5. Traditionally , gpa is out of 4.0. 4.0 is aLl A's. To get your weighted gpa the easy way, go to http://www.back2college.com/gpa.htm You have to know how many units are in each class though , you can find that in your grades section through nu portal. All I know is points is out of 100. Since the breakdown is 50 grades , 30 teas 20 essay. There is no way my points is 85 pre essay considering cut offs ( with essay) range in the 80s. For example July 2010 cohort cut off was 83.77 I believe ( with essay). The cut off is lowest number of points they will accept into cohort. Ah well at least that's how I learned to calculate it through people talking in the forums and she who will not be named. I think that worksheet is so weird but who knows I'm the worst in math. It's driving me crazy though and I would like to know the correct way. For now there is nothing we can do right , lol ? How do you feel you did on the essay ? What I basically did was multiply the point for the grade (4.0 for an A) by the credit hour and that equals your quality points. Add all the credit hours, then add all the quality points. Divide quality points by credit hours, multiply that number by 10, then divide by 28 and multiply that number by 30. So confusing huh!! That's what this worksheet says. I keep checking the portal. I don't think I have ever been so anxious.

The times 10 divide by 28 thing seems so weird to me ! I feel it gives us extra points than we have out of 30 points ! Well nothing we can do now! Let's just root for each other , all we can do :) I want to call them and ask but I just don't want to come off as crazy , lol. I don't know why but I have a bad feeling about my essay! I wonder if grammar counts ? Waiting for an answer is consuming my entire life right now ha ha. If anyone hears a peep or have some information or gossip , please do tell !
