National University BSN April 2014 Cohort

Published

Hi everyone!

I just recently applied to nursing cohort 38 starting next April in San Diego. I'm currently waiting for my teas and essay date. I'm so anxious to find out if I've been accepted or not but I've been told we probably won't find out until January or February! Is there anyone who is in the same boat as me? Hope to receive some replies on here! :)

hello how do i schedule a TEAS exam at National?

thanks!

KGCaligirl, I'm taking the essay and TEAS on November 26. You're taking it so soon! Good luck to you :) Have you taken the TEAS before? I've taken it at sdsu once just to get a feel for it and know my areas that I need to brush up on. Hopefully I score higher this second time!

Hi EVLGNUS, have you already applied to the program? If you have they should have sent you an email with your scheduled test and essay date. If you haven't applied yet and you want to take the TEAS somewhere else before you take it at National you could schedule an appointment at sdsu like what I did. You could take it on any day of the week and as many times as you'd like. Hope this helps!

Hi EVLGNUS, once you apply to the nursing program at NU they will schedule a TEAS and essay date for you to take at NU. ;)

hello! thank you very much for the replies, i will contact my advisor tomorrow..thanks again :-)

Hello everybody! I also applied for the April 2014 cohort. I took the essay and TEAS on Tuesday, 11/12. Got a 92.7 on my TEAS, which was more than 6 points better than my best online practice test. The science was a lot easier than it was on the practice exams! The essay wasn't too bad either, although I was literally still making corrections and edits until the very last second.

Anyway, glad to see there's a thread here, so we can all wait it out together! I for one am glad to have everything done before the holidays. Now, it's out of my hands!

Good luck to everybody who is waiting to test!!

i just applied right now for the ABSN at national and currently just started reading on the Science part of the TEAS..no schedule yet...i hope i get done reviewing before receiving a sched. :-(

By the way, does National have a minimum TEAS score requirement like the other schools? during the information session someone asked about it but the person conducting the session just told us that "any score you receive, just submit it to the school" so it's really not that clear...:-(

Hi socalABSN2b and lyfhckr! Thanks for your replies! :)

socalABSN2b, great job on your teas!! That's such a competitive score! When did you take it? I'm hoping to score higher on mine when I retake it on the 26th. Have you calculated your points so far? I heard that anyone who has around 70 ish points including only the gpa, teas, and number of retakes has a really good chance of getting in, and those with an 84-87 overall score are guaranteed acceptance. I'm currently at 71 points without the essay which is borderline! I'm hoping my essay will get my overall score where it needs to be.

lyfhckr, you applied to the April 2014 cohort and haven't received a date to take the teas and essay yet??? That's odd. They notified me with my test date at the end of October. You should contact them!! Because a lot of people I know that have applied to this cohort already received their test date... Also, National does not have a minimum TEAS score requirement. It's just the higher the score on the test, the more points you earn. Therefore, the better chance you have. You can take it as many times as you want at sdsu! I recommend taking it there once to get a feel for it then take it at NU when they give you a test date. You can submit your higher score! :) Hope this answers your question!

Good luck to everyone!!! Keep in touch. :):nurse:

Hello everyone,

I also applied for this cohort. I got 3.49 prereq gpa (no retakes), and already did the teas/essay parts. I did really well on the essay but scored low on the teas though :( ... will reveal my score at the end of this board if I still manage to get in. I'm just hoping that my gpa and essay will help cover for my low teas score. I took all my prereqs at NU. It was actually hard to get an A, the professors that I had will really have you thinking a lot on their tricky exam (essay-type) questions --- especially my Microbiology prof. Anyways, I believe I worked my hardest and I'm just glad that it's finally over. I'm just trying to stay positive and hope for the best.

Goodluck to everyone who applied!!!

Hi miss.ann :) Don't be discouraged about your teas score. A 3.49 gpa is really good and you said that you did really well on your essay. As long as you know you worked your hardest, you'll be rewarded for it so just stay positive! I myself have been feeling skeptical lately because it's just so competitive, but I've realized that that's not a good nor healthy mindset to have. We will make it! And if not the first time, we still have two more chances to reapply.

Thanks SDCaligirl! I will still start taking the three extra classes required for the program just to be prepared if I get in. I have some back-up plans just in case it doesn't work out the first time- I will probably take either cna or medical assisting course so I can start working in healthcare. I will also keep reapplying until I get in. I cannot apply in community colleges yet because I do not have the certifications or work experience for their points system. I know it's crazy how competitive it has been for nursing schools in SD, but like you said, we worked hard for it so we will make it! Good luck on your teas this week! ;)

miss. ann, I'm also trying to get those three extra classes out of the way. I already took Cultural Pluralism online, and i'll be starting Spanish II next week! I forgot what the third class was haha. Your back up plans sound like a good route to take. I've heard community college nursing programs have waitlists that can be as long as 2 years! That's one of the main reasons why I chose to go to National.

Good luck to all who will be taking the TEAS test and essay next week through National University!
