I just took my NSNC exam and was super stressed! Has anyone else taken it? How did you feel after you took it? Can't believe it takes 8 weeks to get our results!
Mine did. Sorry. Also I had convinced myself that I did not pass so it was a lovely surprise.
I keep going onto the certification site and typing in my name just to see if it comes up. Of course, when it doesn't I have to wonder if it is because it is too early or did I fail. LOL. Guess I have to find some patience until May.
Okay dumb question...but what does taking this exam do for you as the school nurse? Like in what way will it benefit you in your workplace? I'm very curious as I just enrolled in an MSN program for my masters in nursing education. Seriously I feel really dumb like I should know this...Is it kind of like when you get certified in another area of nursing (Like I have my CEN--didn't really do much for me in the work place other than I got my name on a placard hanging on the wall in the ER--no more than usual pay raise, did not give me any extra job security etc)

For me it will make no difference financially (except the cost$$) but it is a personal goal.

At your former job, the CEN didn't get you a raise. In other hospitals, it might (Mr. Ruby Jane's CEN got him a step up at his new job).
Your MSN will more likely get you more $. The NCSN will be appreciated by administration and anyone in the district who values "expertise." How do we prove expertise in the school setting? We get certified!! Am I any more expert than the 140 other district nurses with no NCSN? Maybe, maybe not. But on paper, I am!

It is mandatory here in NC to continue to hold a school nurse position. We also do receive an increase in pay.
