Nassau Community College

U.S.A. New York

Hi, all,

I applied to Nassau Community College today for the Spring 2010 semester. I understand that the Spring class is much smaller than the Fall semester. Would anyone mind sharing -- I applied with a 3.75 and all pre-reqs done. Anyone out there get in to the January class in the past with a comparable GPA? I understand that it's all according to the pool of GPA's they receive - 4.0's first, but I'm looking for a glimmer of hope.

Thanks!

Hi Everyone, I am newly registered but have been watching this thread for months. Congrats Kuklara511. By the end of this semester I will have all pre-req and co-req complete except AP2 and Micro. Was wondering if anyone took A&P2 over the summer. I registered, but looks like it is only 4 weeks! Can that be?? Can that be done? Any insight would be great so I don't waste my time on the impossible.

I'M IN!!!!! Letter just arrived! Pending interview on the 24th of May. Smiling from ear to ear, here! :clown:

Hey Anny - Congratulations!!! My interview is on the 25th! I cant wait either! PLEASE post or personal message me after the interview so I know EXACTLY what to expect when I go the next day -- even though I have a pretty good idea from other people on here!! Good for you I am SOOO happy for you!

Dogmom67- I honestly never took an A&P class in the summer but I do know any summer class is compressed down into 4 weeks. Just be prepared to work your butt off!

Oh, I see - you're interview is a different day.... I'll be sure to fill you in what I can. Dogmom67, I actually took A&P II last summer at Nassau - and I found it to be just fine. Almost easier, I thought, than A&P I was during the full semester. (I had a very demanding professor for A&P I, though). As long as you keep up with the work and dedicate yourself for those 4 weeks, it should be fine. I took it in the 1st summer session and was done by the end of June - just in time for summer! It really flew by.

I'm patiently waiting to hear but didn't get the mail yet! I've been monitoring the forum to see what was going on!Wanted to respond about A&P 2 over the summer...Greatest thing I ever did. But with that said I think it may depend on the teacher! It goes quickly and is alot of work but in the end you'll be thankful! I pulled off an A with ease.

Specialrn any day now you should be getting your acceptance letter. I got mine on Friday and another girl just got hers today so yours is on its way. I believe they sent out rejection letters like 3 weeks ago so if you havent geotten a letter yet it is a good sign!

Hi Anny908

Like you, I applied for Fall 2010. Did you hear anything yet?? I am still waiting for a letter from NCC. I found out that if I re-take a class I would lose some points... so re-taking a class will not help me :( I, like you, am an "older" student. I wish I would have done better in the 90s... and actually took school seriously! With age comes wisdom!

Sorry, Suzi - I had a busy weekend and just saw your post now. Yes, I never expected that a few grades from when I was 19 would come back to bite me! Even though I ended up graduating with a very respectable GPA, my grades in Statictics & Intro to Psych have been hanging over my head and TAUNTING me. I'm so glad that the hard work I've done at Nassau for the past 3 semesters has finally paid off - I received my acceptance letter today! I'm finding it hard to concentrate on my term paper that's due this Friday, I'm just so excited.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get your letter today, too!!!!

Congrats Annie! Such great news.!!

Hi Anny

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S !!!! A friend of mine received her letter today and she's in too!!!! I am still awaiting ANY letter! lol I am truly happy for you ladies!!!

I hope I'll be able to post some good news soon! :)

Daughter got her letter today.....YAY!!! Interview is also May 24th....

Congrats to everyone!

Does anyone know ...what the "interview" is all about...?

I once found a thread about it..but cant seem to find it now

How does one prepare?

Congrats everyone for getting in the program. I received my acceptance letter on Friday so I've been non-stop celebrating. Does anyone know what to wear to the interview? I've heard a mixture of things and I am just wondering if it is business casual or it really doesn't matter....?

I'm about 90% positive I'm doing nassau program but I'm deciding between that program and NYIT's nursing program. I already have a bachelor's degree (field other than nursing) and I don't want to do an accelerated program because I just went through 4 years of torture in a just below ivy school ... so I'm wondering if anyone has a opinion as to whether or not i should do nassau's program or 2 year's through NYIT's?

Dogmom67, I took both A&P I and II over the summer. I had prof Accerra for A&PII. and he was a really great teacher. Not quite sure who you have.. but anyway The class is a lot of hard work because there is so much material in such a short amount of time but the best advice I can give you is just to study every night. You'll have about one test a week and it seems everyday your on a new topic. Just read the chapters before hand and memorize everynight because there is just sooo much material that it cant possibly be memorized in a few day span. There's no homework in the class ( at least mine), and I highly suggest taking it with Accerra because his test are fair and he doesn't put you to sleep like some other A&P teachers.
