Hey, So I realized that the stuff we are suppose to read for tomorrow's orientation is in the one book I didn't buy yet... Can anyone tell me what it's about, I was planning on buying that book next week because it was the one you can't order on amazon.. thanks!

Hey Annor12 and Anny908, Just a suggestion .. besides the book with the lab manual I highly suggest ordering the books on Amazon. Majority of the time you could buy used copies that look brand new and cost ALOT less. Bookstores at colleges normally increase the prices to an obscene number.

Kuklara511, Thank you so much. I've been reading other forum's on here about other people who are having similar questions regarding their schools all over the country and it seems the everyone is responding in very similar ways...which is advising against it. Thank god for this forum because I probably would have chosen NYIT but it seems now that im 90% positive I have to go to Nassau. Its the better choice and I've worked to hard to chance it. on another note... so excited!! What day is everyone's interview?

For financial reasons I didn't initially apply there but when I hadn't heard back from any schools I decided about 2 weeks ago to apply because they said there were still a few spots.. however I wasn't accepted into the program. I guess by the time all my application stuff came in and they reviewed it the program was already closed out....

Thanks, Yea I just read about the passing rate today. I called the school and they told me that They applied a year ago for accreditation however if by the time I graduate they aren't accredited than it will only affect me when Im applying to graduate programs( which I want to do) ..they said though they will eventually become accredited, so after that I should be fine. Im so on the fence. It just bothers me that in the two years I could spend at nassau I could spend the same time obtaining my BSN. Do you know of any repercussions with obtaining a job when coming from a non-accredited school? Thanks so much for the advice.
  7. Hey everyone, Ok so I really need help with this. I'm graduating in a few weeks with a Bachelors degree in a field other than nursing. I applied to a bunch of schools but was only accepted into NYIT's nursing program as a transfer student and Nassau Community College's program. Nassau's program is really well known and its an honor to be accepted but I eventually want to obtain my master's degree so going to Nassau adds an extra year onto my education( RN to BSN). I was accepted into NYIT's nursing program with 96 credits transferring so it would take me at most 2 years to obtain a BSN. Logically both are two year programs so it would seem that I should choose the BSN program however according to NYIT's website it says "The department is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), and we are currently working toward accreditation by the AACN's Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), a national accreditation agency." I spoke with someone from NYIT who said that they applied for accreditation a year ago and if by the time I graduate they aren't accredited then the only problem I would face is the possibility that some master programs may reject me because of it, however when they do get accredited than i might just have to retake a course or two and ill be fine.... I don't know what to do ... can anyone tell me whose gone through NYIT's program or if they know of any information regarding obtaining a job, continuing education, reputation etc. from a non accredited school? thanks so much

Congrats everyone for getting in the program. I received my acceptance letter on Friday so I've been non-stop celebrating. Does anyone know what to wear to the interview? I've heard a mixture of things and I am just wondering if it is business casual or it really doesn't matter....? I'm about 90% positive I'm doing nassau program but I'm deciding between that program and NYIT's nursing program. I already have a bachelor's degree (field other than nursing) and I don't want to do an accelerated program because I just went through 4 years of torture in a just below ivy school ... so I'm wondering if anyone has a opinion as to whether or not i should do nassau's program or 2 year's through NYIT's? Dogmom67, I took both A&P I and II over the summer. I had prof Accerra for A&PII. and he was a really great teacher. Not quite sure who you have.. but anyway The class is a lot of hard work because there is so much material in such a short amount of time but the best advice I can give you is just to study every night. You'll have about one test a week and it seems everyday your on a new topic. Just read the chapters before hand and memorize everynight because there is just sooo much material that it cant possibly be memorized in a few day span. There's no homework in the class ( at least mine), and I highly suggest taking it with Accerra because his test are fair and he doesn't put you to sleep like some other A&P teachers.
