Nassau Community College

Published

Hi, all,

I applied to Nassau Community College today for the Spring 2010 semester. I understand that the Spring class is much smaller than the Fall semester. Would anyone mind sharing -- I applied with a 3.75 and all pre-reqs done. Anyone out there get in to the January class in the past with a comparable GPA? I understand that it's all according to the pool of GPA's they receive - 4.0's first, but I'm looking for a glimmer of hope.

Thanks!

Yes... technically I graduated with my assoc but have been taking the required Nursing pre-reqs....

Nothing in the mail today... I feel I am getting my hopes only to be dissapointed. :(

How many points did they say they give to Nassau residents?

Suzi....It is a good sign you didn't get a letter yet!!!!

I know for a fact I was accepted and the lady told me acceptance letters were being mailed out the end of the week or the beginning of next week.

I still havent gotten mine yet which means BOTH our letters might be getting mailed out together with thw other accepted letters!

I'm just just saying this to bring your hopes up but its the truth...I really think its a good sign!!

thank you! thank you! You have given me hope! :) I'll keep you posted... I tried to PM you, but still can't figure it out... do you know how many points are given to Nassau residents? some say "1" others say "4". I hope it's "4" because if it's "1" I most likely didn't make the cut My GPA isn't as good as yours

Hey Suzi - I get my mail late and when I got home a little while ago I have not gotten my letter either yet so stay strong!!!! I doubt it is 4 points because I live in Queens. Yeah my GPA is high but I dont even have all my pre-reqs done yet. Tomorrow is another day to check the mailbox

Happy that you didn't get your letter yet (knowing you def got in... speaking of such aren't you freaking out!... YOU GOT INTO NCC'S NURSING PROGRAM!!!!) WOO HOOO!

If I don't get 4 points for being a Nassau REsident.... it doesn't look promising for me... I can't take it anymore! LOL I would only have "6" points while you have "8", that is, if I'm doing it correctly ;)

I dont understand the point thing can you explain it to me? I live in Queens, have a 4.0 but I am completing A&P2 now, which means Nassau dosnt have my grade for that, and I still need to take Micro, Sociology, Lifespan development, and maybe one more elective I'm not sure if I fulfilled 2 general humanities electives....so how would I have 8 points?

I am excited, really excited - but I don't know why I also feel kinda scared too (may sound dumb). I've been doing pre-reqs hoping for this for over 2 years, and now that it is here, I feel like I am starting to doubt myself.

I have a weak stomach (they say you overcome that though), have no experience working in the medical field, and now I am hearing from others how difficult Nassau's program is and the teachers are very harsh so it is making me a little anxious.

Don't get me wrong though I am EXTREMELY excited, and I am sure once I get through the orientation and everything and see the school I'll feel better - I think the whole "not knowing what to expect" is raising my anxiety levels...but once I meet people in the program and even like talking to you on here makes me feel better and gets rid of the nervous feeling I am having and brings out the excitedness

I'm frustrated that I didn't retake the class sooner...I doubt I would be in this position if I had. Like you, I tried to schedule an appointment with someone in the department for advisement and was simply told to "reapply". When I persisted and asked about retaking classes, I was told not to....which I still don't understand. I will also be applying in March and if I don't get in, I will be re-taking whatever is necessary over the summer. I'm not getting any younger, though...this ain't fun!

Hi Anny908

Like you, I applied for Fall 2010. Did you hear anything yet?? I am still waiting for a letter from NCC. I found out that if I re-take a class I would lose some points... so re-taking a class will not help me :( I, like you, am an "older" student. I wish I would have done better in the 90s... and actually took school seriously! With age comes wisdom!

@ kuklara511. We MUST chat! I have the same "issues" as you. can you private message me with your e-mail?

I too an am older student by the way...27 actually...is that considered an older student? lol

My daughter is still waiting to hear from NCC.....they said the letters were going to be mailed out at the end of April.....last call made to school said end of week. I am guessing by April 30th?

Anyone else waiting to hear from NCC?

I see someone here already heard ..... ....My daughter has taken the pre-req classes...at NCC

The waiting to hear, is nerve wacking!

I just got my official acceptance letter today!! Hopefully your daughter will be receiving hers within the next few days!
