I thought I'd start a forum for Fall 2017

That definitely makes sense, I think the forms they gave us say that the first 4 weeks of clinical are actually in one of the classrooms before we even get to the hospital.

Has anyone gotten shoes yet? I am kind of at a loss for what to get. I know they said no athletic shoes. Does that include casual shoes, like classic reeboks or something like that? Those nursing clogs look so uncomfortable.
If you go to the place where you have to buy the scrubs from in Hempstead they will tell you exactly what shoes you need. They are decently priced, I got them there.
Okay Thank you. I actually just emailed them to find out how much the scrubs are going to cost me. Maybe I will just go there tomorrow....

I initially bought the international/global/softcover version of the fundamentals book but will be returning it. The page numbers are not the same and there's only certain sections that we need to read in each chapter. I'm just gonna rent the book and save the money there. It's been very confusing trying to figure out which page number corresponds to the assigned pages.
It's a 26 page difference, all you need to do is add 26 to the page number on the reading list and it will match up.

Went to order my scrubs and she said the total will be $68... you can either pay upfront or pay when you go to pick them up!-- this price includes scrub bottoms, zip scrub top, and jacket we wear for lab. All other things we need (sneakers, stethoscope etc.) are an added cost. Hope this helps! Hope everyone is getting excited!!!
Has anyone gotten the email I copied and pasted below? I don't seem to recall anyone speaking about this at the orientation in May.... I could only find two of the six courses. Has anyone inquired about this? Or completed it?
"Every student going to the Northwell System must complete the new Patient Identification module in Northwell's iLearn prior to the start of class.
Students must bring their Northwell iLearn "transcript" with them the first day of class and they must have the required 6 courses listed on the transcript.
Students should all have an account already because this is not new.
The link for iLearn is http://lsglm700.learnsoft.com/lsglm/login/nslijlogin.aspx"
Yes I received the same email and I wasn't sure what to do about it. I'm going to call nursing office and see what I should do. There is an option to make an account when you click the link but I just want to make sure there's nothing else that needs to be done prior...
Hi! For any of those who received that email regarding the Northwell learning modules don't worry about them for now. I emailed the person who sent the email and he said that was for those who were already in the program and that our instructors will go over that with us in class.

hello how long would it take you to complete the RN program ? If you have all the pre reqs, would it be just one year ? Because I'm looking to apply for the spring semester after I graduate from my LPN program.
Since the program is structured with clinicals and specific classes you have to do the 2 years. I finished all my pre reqs but I still have to do the 2 years of just the nursing credits. Not sure how it works with LPN graduates. The nursing department is super helpful! They also have informational sessions.
