Has anyone Interviewed for NSCC ADN program? please share

I think if you are in say, skills group 1, then you might be in clinical greoup 3, 4, or 5. Don't know for sure, but the schedule does work that way.

Is anyone else having trouble getting the skills bag before the 27th? I can get it next payday, on the 29th, but not before. I wonder if two days would make a difference, or if it matters. Is it just me?

Also, I would like to have my second year mentor assigned now, and not the first day of school. I need to know what I need to do to get started. Has anyone gotten the study guide?

Your right, that does work:)...I will be ordering my bag Friday. I'm thankful that my mom was able to help me with the background check or I would be in trouble. I'm reading it as you will not be able to purchase the bag for three weeks following July 27th. Try contacting them to ask, because without it you will be terminated from the program. I didn't get a study guide, is it an option to get one before the first day? If so I will get one tomorrow, because I wont be relocating to Nsshville (with my grand parents) until a few days before first class.

Um did anyone find this meeting helpful? I sure didn't. And she made it seem as if our questions or concerns were insignificant. I'm don't stressing about this program and this is going to be the longest 2 years of my life. All that was cleared up in this meeting was immunization and I didn't have an issue with that. Also does anyone know what they are talking about dropping your transcript off and having dr Waller highlight stuff. Do we all have to do that for financial aid? This will be my first semester at nscc so im not sure how

Financial aid works here

Harris 88,

Not helpful at all. Really disgusted we have to take off work again..... They can be my #1 priority after school starts, but now my employer must come first.

If you have 90+ hours of college credit, then every class not directly needed for the ASN will need to be stricken from your transcript so you can get financial aid. You can't continue to get financial aid for more than 90 hours of work at a community college.

Frustrating thing is, you have to go to school, go to records office, they will print transcript, take it to the nursing department, then pick it up a week later, and walk it over to the financial aid office. Didn't these people ever hear of campus mail? When I was at MTSU, all staff and faculty had access to your transcript, with your permission, of course. Your advisor needed a copy, no problem, he printed one out. Is that so hard?

I do have a question about immunizations/titers. Do we have to have an mmr titer if we have had all 3 shots...and can we use a 1 step TB test?

I think the meeting was a big waste of time. I also didn't like that my question was pretty much dismissed! Kay2010- I am going to assume that you mean HepB titer, because the MMR is not a series of 3 shots. She said we didn't need it in the meeting but it does say that we do on our paper work. She also said that we only needed one of the tb tests and our paper says 2. Pretty much everything that we have been told to do has been changed, and to be honest I'm afraid this is what we have to look forward to over the next 2 years. What did she say about our uniform patches?

I remember her saying that she would ggive them to us at orientation, and we would have to sew them on

I agree with all of you and yes you have to have the titers. I have taken off of work so many times for this and then to take off again for 2 more days and then 1/2 day to turn in my stuff. This is ridiculous! How many uniforms did you all buy? I think I'm just going to get 2. Thanks readergirl for the input on financial aid!

I haven't bought my uniforms yet, but I think I am just going to buy 2 right now...we will only use them for clinicals and skills for the first semester right??

I'm only buying two, although one will be plenty for this semester, I would like to have a back up. Kay-2010-yes, we only need them for skills lab and clinical day this semester. On lecture day we are to dress professional.

Jellybean...

What exactly does she mean by "professional" dress? I wear jeans or khaki to work everyday, and am beginning to assume that this will not be good enough. Sigh.........

Readergirl- I'm not exactly sure. I remember her commenting on how good we all looked( at the first meeting) and in her next breath said something along the lines of " this is exactly how I want you all to dress when your not in uniform". I remember thinking to myself " oh my gosh" because the dress suit I had on was borrowed from my mom... She said that we should look "professional" when we come to class and when we are in uniform. I wear sandals, heels or flops every single day and in the winter I'm a huge boot fanatic!! I'm not sure if jeans will be ok or not, but by the sound of it I may have to revamp my too trendy wardrobe. To me it is dressy but on the advice of my family, I may have to tone it down a little. I definitely don't want to stick out too much or be looked down upon because of the way I dress ::confused:
