I'm a new grad and I got hired at Winthrop. I just graduated this May... I posted some info on them a little bit before you're post... maybe the page before. They start at $64K for days and $70.5K for nights for new grads with ADNs... BSNs get an extra $1500 or so per year differential. They do hire new grads... matter of fact, they just hired a bunch of new grads. I heard it is best to start out on Med-Surg. Someone else told me Telemetry is good and most of the patients are Walky-Talkies (That means they are able to walk and talk to you.) I got hired for a telemetry floor that has about 8 beds reserved for med-surg but is mostly telemetry. Winthrop is an excellent place to work as a new grad though. They have a very good orientation -it is longer than most hospitals'. Oh, and their tuition reimbursement is $3400 or so per year...

They just hired a bunch of new grads so they may be a little slow on hiring now but I heard that once July and August orientations come up, some people don't show so they hire more new grads then... Good luck!!!

They interview any time so just call the nurse recruiter there and schedule an interview. Their orientation for nurses is once a month I believe. I know mine is scheduled for August 11th. I believe the July one is also for sometime in the middle of the month. They don't only hire during the orientations, they may still be hiring. Call and find out! Good luck!

Specializes in Cardiology.
I think they mean in NY. I can't believe Houston would pay so well. I was offered 23/hr at Springbranch I think and that was in April of this year.

Um, Albany is in NY

Um, Albany is in NY

She was referring to the link she quoted in her message... It is from the message above the Albany one... It is for a hospital in Texas... :)

Does anybody know the starting pay for the Rochester area?

Strong Memorial Hospital (and Golisano Children's Hospital), General Hospital, Parkridge Hospital, etc... I think I'd like to work at either SMH or GH.

Specializes in oncology, transplant, OB.

Wow what a great thread!

I live in Philly, and was shocked from reading these posts that it seems very common for nurses in NY w/the BSN to get paid more than someone w/their ASN for a staff nurse position. We don't have that here (at least not that I know of!) However there are certain hospitals that only hire nurses w/their BSN.

Believe me, when you break it down by the hour, it really isn't that much more. It is nice that they recognize the additional education.

Maimonides pays well, like LITCH. Also Methodist. They are both good hospitals.

I think Philly is moving towards this trend. HUP and PA hosp recently starting hiring BSN grad only. I think it has something to do with HUP getting magnet status.
