Yes, it does look at the last question - if you go all the way to 265. But not at whether you answered it correctly or not. I never said that. I said if it was above competency, you pass and if it was below competency, you fail. I did say "regardless of whether you got the question right or wrong" but I guess I should have stated it differently to make it more clear. I see what you mean. That has happened to me a few times when I post. You seem to frequently misinterpret what I am saying so I guess I really have to work on that. Thanks for the tip! :)

I did not say getting the question right or wrong determines if you pass or fail. I said the level difficulty of the question at 265 determines whether you pass or fail - regardless of if you got it right or wrong. I know the last question doesn't determine if you pass or fail when you don't get 265 but I was told by Kaplan & Feuer review that if you get 265 questions, the test looks at your last question and if it is below the level of competency, you fail or "almost passed" as they put it. And if the last question was above the level of competency, you pass. It doesn't matter if you got the last question right or wrong. I didn't say you have to get the last question correct. I was just told that if it is above the level of competency, regardless of if you get it right or wrong, you pass. If it is below the level of competency, regardless of if you get it right or wrong, you fail. This only goes for if the computer shuts off at 265! If you run out of time, they look at the last 60 questions. I know that getting the last question right or wrong never determines if you pass or fail the exam. Sorry if I made it sound like that but that was not what I was saying.

That is not true. The computer shuts off when it feels you are averaging above the level of competency or below it. If you are borderline, it will keep going until you do average above it. I'm not sure how many questions you have to average above it but it is basically based on your level of competency. If you get to 265, it looks at your last answer and if it was above competency, you pass, if it was below competency, you fail, regardless of if you got it right or wrong (this is how Kaplan explained it to us). Hi everyone... I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 75 Q's in an hour and a half. :) I found out yesterday and I'm still on cloud 9. lol.

Nurse2bTracy - Why don't you just apply to the different LI hospitals and they'll train you as a CNA for free? Winthrop has a good orientation and if you work in the ER you will not only be trained as a CNA (they call them PCA) but you will also be doing EKGs, Phlebotomy, etc. It is excellent experience and you will learn so much for nursing school! And best of all, not only do you not have to pay for it but you are actually getting paid while doing the training!!! I believe starting pay for a PCA at Winthrop is almost $17 plus different shift differentials. And they have tuition reimbursement and grants for nursing school! They have special PCA openings for nursing students. You should call HR and let them know you are currently applying to nursing schools but you would love to work as a PCA with them in the meantime. They are always hiring in the ER and I believe they had openings in Mother/Baby as well. Try and get a job in the area you would like to work in as a nurse because it is likely the nurse manager will hire you when you finish nursing school. Also, take a job in any department at first because once you're in, it's easier to switch to another department that has openings. They have job openings specifically for Winthrop employees only. They get first dibs. I definitely wouldn't pay for a CNA training course if I could do it this way instead. :) You may have to be per diem at first but once you're in and have training, you can easily switch to an open full time position! Yaaaayyyyy!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!! I am waiting for my results! I tested Wednesday at 2pm so hopefully sometime around 3pm today they'll be up! Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! The wait is torture! lol.

The Feuer nursing review course was kind of like a "refresher course". It is really a review course but they focus on the content. Then you can go home after the week of classes and review what you learned and do tons of their practice questions. I really thought it was helpful. Just a thought in case you have to test again. Good luck!!!!

I took my test today. It shut off at 75 q's. I had 21 SATA! (Yes, I was tallying them up!) lol. I had 2 calculations, and the rest was mostly teaching, prioritizing, cohorting patients, infection control and maybe 5 or 6 meds. I'll find out Friday if I passed. I felt good coming out of the test but now I'm starting to worry. But I keep thinking to myself, 85% of people pass on the first try! So those are some good odds. :)

I took my exam today (well, yesterday by now because it's after midnight :)). I feel ok about it. I don't want to get my hopes up but I feel as if I passed based on the types of questions I got. I had teaching, prioritizing, cohorting (who would you room this patient with), 2 math problems that weren't too bad, 5 or 6 med questions, a few infection control questions, basically a mix of everything. The test was weird. None of the expected answers are on it. You really have to narrow it down to 2 answers and then kind of figure out what they are testing you on... Lots of critical thinking. I do feel that Kaplan was helpful and I feel that my tests in school had some similar style questions. I guess I'll find out tomorrow if I passed. Thanks for clarifying. I assumed that was a given but now after reading your post I can see how someone could think that from my response. Lol. :)

What a beautiful prayer! I am testing tomorrow. I went to the prayer meeting at my Church today and asked the Lord to be with me as I test tomorrow. It was a beautiful, relaxing way to spend the evening before my test. :)

Ok, I'm testing tomorrow @ 2pm! I'm so anxious I don't think I'll be able to fall asleep! Well, wish me luck!!! I'll follow up soon! :)
