Hi, im from RI. Does anyone know what the starting pay is here? With overtime, nd, weekends, ect,...what does it look like a year as far as salary goes??

I posted earlier in this discussion about RI.......it's around $21.74 -$22.82 an hour to start .....if you are looking they are having "walk in Wednesdays" until march 28th 8am - 4pm at RI Hospital sounds like on the spot interviews are happening.....

Upstate NY - Starting salary is around 19 to 21 Hour for new grad (Depends on if you are diplomma or degree). It amazes me how low the pay is...The hospital that I work for does not pay a weekend diff...they only pay 14% for night shift. They do not give any incentives for working extra time...and we are so incredibly short staffed right now! You would think that the hospital would be offering incentives for working extra...NOPE! The pay here is terrible for nurses. If you consider the taxes, NYSEG (Energy costs are among the highest in the country), and the general COL here our salaries should be much-much higher. NYSEG and the Taxes are sucking the life out of my husband and I...We are looking to move south eventually. Trying to figure out where. OH...my raise was .63 hour...Whoopie! After taxes I didn't see a difference in my check...I currently make 21.85 + 14% night diff = 24.91...

I found a great site www.salary.com tells you the going rate in your area its nice to see, just if people are curious

This web-site only gives you an idea. According to this web-site nurses in my area should be making the following:

Low = 52000

Mid = 56000

High = 63000

Well, I can tell you right now that is completely wrong...I did some research and the averages are more like this:

Low = 35000

Mid = 41000

High = 49000

I have no idea where this web-site got their averages...??? It was certainly not by asking the local nurses and hospitals...???

On another note I asked a friend of mine who is a nurse is NJ and the web-site was way below their average for her county also...

I thought this website's figures was too good to be true. I think here in St. Louis, the starting salary is around $18 - $19/hr. According to salary.com, the salary is around $60k/yr w/2 yrs exp. I can't see the salary almost doubling in 2 years - feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

These numbers are enlightening!

I've been a RN in OB for 10 years and make $21.60/hour. I currently work a Bailor where I work from 3pm-3am, every Friday and Saturday and get paid for 40 hours. I'm considered full time, so get full time benefits too.

I'm in a community hospital in northeast Indiana.

Maybe I should consider moving???... >>>u

Cost of living has to be considered, though.
