I currently have a 9 year old girl I am taking care of on unit. She was raped resulting in surgical repair to entire pelvic floor and also needed a colostomy. As I change her sheets and such I just don't know what to do. I cry everytime I walk in there. I just want to hold her. She isn't allowed visitors and she is so scared. My heart is breaking. Any advice?
You're an angel, ssouthernyankee. I'm so glad you and the little trooper got this video done and out of the way. I hope talking about it and knowing people are there to help her gives her a sense of control she surely lacked for some time.I pray they find the other perp soon. I bet they do. I hope he rots in jail with the scumbag father. I have no symapthy for child molesters. They should lock them in a cell and throw away the key. Disgusting.
I have a feeling they will give you this child. I can't imagine a place where she would get better care or be more loved than with you. God bought you together...this was no accident.
Batman24; Thank you for everything you've done. I wish everyone on here knew that u are anas well.
So many times in my life I had thought that God had forsaken me or just plain forgot that I existed,but now I truly believe he knew what he was doing. The timing of everything cannot be just coincidence. Me applying for therapuetic foster care months ago, her coming to my floor my hospital, just everything was placed together. I am truly grateful and I feel so honored to have the privilage to care for this precious child. I wish you could just see how wonderful she is. I don't know too many adults who could of handled this in the graceful manner that she is. It's just amazing to watch her blossom and to see the love just seeping out of her. I want to be at the trials but I probably will be testifying so I can't be in there during the proceedings until after I've given my testimony. I want to stare these monsters straight in the face, for her for me and for every other poor child ever hurt at the hands of these creeps. Although I will probably have to place duct tape over my mouth to keep myself out of trouble from the judge. Lol.
Lol too funny, I'm fond of the camo colored duct tape then they couldn't see me lolI've seen duct tape in a whole bunch of different colors, so if you do have to resort to using a few inches of it to avoid being held in contempt, you will at least be fashionable or as my husband's college students say, "stylin'.":yeah:Helpfully yours,
sharpeimom:paw::paw:
She's had a pretty good day, resting fairly well. Tomorrow is the big day, final signatures for temporary custody given to me. As soon as she's discharged I can take her home, but it will take a bit longer to cement the orders. We have to go in front of the judge, just a technical issue really. Please pray everything will go smoothly. Thanks.
OMG! I just saw that we are the same age ssouthernyankee. I am nowhere near as settled and confident as you at 30!!!! BRAVO! You are taking on challenges I could never imagine!! One question, are you a southern belle in the north or a yankee in dixie? Just curious...I myself am a southern belle...:)

Thanks for the compliment. yes, I had to grow up rather quickly..alot of life lessons very early on in my life. I am a southernbelle transplant.lol. I moved to Arkansas from Illinois when I was 11. Then a few years ago I moved to Minnesota for awhile but decided I belonged down here. So actually I consider myself a southerner. Been here longer than up north. Thanks for the support I'm sure everything will work out as well. It has to, after everything coming together the way it has. It has to be for a reason bigger than us. Thanks again, my fellow sbelle.
My hat really goes off to you girl!!!! Glad to hear you like the south. I am pretty partial to it myself. I have lived in New York, Boston, D.C., Tampa, Atlanta, Charleston, Mississippi. I Gotta say there really is something to be said for Southern hospitality. Did you work at the Mayo Clinic? I donated a kidney to my mom this past summer and I spent a great deal of time in Minnesota at Mayo Clinic. Not a bad place in the summer time....:)

Thanks. Wow that's alot of traveling. I did not work at Mayo I lived quite a ways from there. I worked in a small family practice office in Grand Marais, right on Lake Superior/Canadian border. That is so awesome that you donated a kidney to your mom. I hope you both are doing well. I was a pt at Mayo for a few days though. I have SLE, it took awhile to get dx. It is an amazing facility. I was surprised by how small it actually seemed though. I had always thought it would be this massive building. The care was exceptional. Was your mom living near Rochester at the time or did u have to travel a long ways just so u could have it done @ their facility? My hat goes off to you as well. Organ donation is such a huge importance to me and so many others. I'm glad u were able to save your mom's life. I bet it has really enriched your relationship. I have a really good friend that is waiting for a kidney now. She's been on hemo for about 3 years now. She has a son who is willing to donate but so far she refuses, she's terrified something could go wrong with his procedure and she wouldn't want to live feeling like it was her fault. I've tried to no avail to explain to her that transplants have come a long ways and he has an excellent chance of a quick and trouble free recovery but she's stubborn. I had offered her one of my kidneys when she first found out she'd need one, but of course she said no way then it wasn't much longer when I got the SLE diagnosis so of course I wouldn't be able to now anyway. You are an in my eyes!!
