My teacher is giving me bad compliments

Published

My teacher at school is giving me negative motivations. She is the kind of a person who always have the attitude of "not good enough" I'm taking my NCLEX board this wednesday. And I need encouragement to get myself ready.

My teacher challenged me about not being ready. She even bet that I will get 64% on the practice. I've been studying for the past 3 months, 7 days a week. Reviewed Saunders (the yellow book and the orange book) Reviewed Kaplan techniques, strategies and prioritizes. I'm getting the idea how to answer a question. I got 88% on my practice test. She said that it's not good enough, because it's an easy test. WTH she given me an easy question? Is she trying to underestimate me?

So far, I hate people that give bad compliments just like that. What I need right now is emotional support. I don't mine failing with emotional support. Failing an exam without having any support is a disastrous scenario.

But then, on the other hand. She allowed me to take the test. She said that she don't want me seeing crying after the NCLEX. She just don't want me to see a failure. She is afraid that it will affect the passing grade of the school.

Im so piss right now. Why would I be responsible for closing the school because of a failure.

I give credit for challenging me. I'm an Aries, she is definitely challenging me. She said that if I pass, she will eat her words. If I fail, then I will cry like a baby.

I'm so pissed. Aaaah. I will definitely take that as a challange. I just hated when people challanges me. It really psyche me up.

I don't know if she just doing that in purpose. It really gets in to you when you hear negative compliments. I went to see my teacher for emotional supports, and this what I get?

I know myself that I'm ready or not. She even told me that if I fail, I will have to review all over again. What does she think of me? a Dumbass? When I answer a practice question, I used all the techniques that Kaplan is telling me. I was thinking critically when I was answering the practice questions. I wasn't memorizing. I always ask myself why other options are not correct. I don't get it why all the things a work on is not enough.

My teacher wanted me to cancel my exam because she thinks I'm not ready. Actually, I don't intend to do cancel it. Because, like what I said before.....I know myself if I'm ready or not.

about NCLEX BOARD

- They have nothing better else to do but create a lot of new problems

Failure is failure?

- 1st attempt = 10% out of 100

- 2nd attempt = 20% out of 100

- 3rd attempt 40% out of 100

- I don't see failure, I see a progress

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Failure is not an option. If there is a will...there is a way

P.S

I'm so mad right now. I will difinitely let her eat all what she have said to me. If I fail, I will not let myself cry like a baby. All I can say is that "I did all of my best, and will difinitely pass the next test"

Perhaps your wording is incorrect, because there's no such thing as a "bad compliment." Your teacher is not giving these so-called "bad compliments." Rather, the teacher is delivering INSULTS.

Power perceived is power achieved, so don't think about this teacher excessively. Don't give her any power over your thoughts and emotions. Allow her insults to roll off your back like a duck in water. This teacher is simply preparing you for the harsh world of real nursing, where coworkers, doctors, and patients can be very mean people.

Why are you still looking to your teacher? You graduated. What you do after that is none of the school's business. Stand on your own two feet and take responsibility for your own decisions -- like an adult. Your former teacher does not need to be involved.

i agree !!!

one of my instructors told me the same. and i don't think they have a right to say such mean words. instead, they should encourage us and give advises how to pass the nclex knowing we might struggle. we passed nursing school - it means we can pass this test too! but it really feels discouraged when you have a person next to you who says you can not pass. i simply don't communicate with anybody from my nursing school just because i had such an experience with one of my instructors.

and if one failes - there is always a second chance..... or third...... or fourth......

It's true that it's none of the school's business. I'm actually taking the board tomorrow. I am an adult, I do stand my own feet, I do make my own decision. I was just there to help my colleagues. It's just discouraging when people say negative things. My teacher is been like that since the beginning of the school year. You're right, my teacher does not need to be involved.

My colleagues have worse problems than I am. The school is holding their papers until they have proof that they are really studying. The person who runs the school is actually my teacher. That's why we are force to study by the school. My teacher will not release our application paper for the board unless we are competent. My teacher wants 100 percent passing because if any one of us fails, the school grade will go down and the school will be on probation.

for me, on the other hand. I received my confirmation. I went to see my colleagues at school because they need help. And that's how I end up seeing that "witch" in my school. She talked to me about my board exam. I told her that it's on wednesday, then she just said "I don't think you are ready yet."

Yes, my teacher should not be involve, but after hearing that word "You are not ready yet" I have to prove myself that I am ready by taking her test. Which I passed, but she thinks I'm not good enough. She wants me to cancel my exam. I just lied to her about cancelling, because I know myself that I am ready.

I was thinking last night, and talk some of my friends. I think she is just doing that to help me realize that N-CLEX board is not an easy task. Which means that I have to put in my head that N-CLEX is not a practice test that you will see your mistakes with rationales. It's like going to a war. One bullet on your head, it's the end of the line.

Well, I'm not afraid to take the N-CLEX tomorrow. I realized that the reason I was afraid taking the NCLEX it's because I might end up closing the school. You know what, after yesterday drama, I don't really care what will happen to the school. All I can think of that I'm actually happy that I been studying for 3 months, 7 days a week. And this is it, the moment I've been waiting for since the beginning of the school. I'm actually taking the BOARD EXAM TOMORROW...WOOOOOOT!!!! =D

I'm confused. Why does the teacher even need to know how you're doing on the practice test? She's baiting you. Ignore her. It's none of her business. I don't know of any school that can have 100% pass on the NCLEX. I think John's Hopkins was saying they had the highest pass rate in the country at almost 98% a couple of years ago.

I think that some nursing teachers can be very negative and hurtful! Ignore this and go for it. You can do it!

I'm not following why the teacher is still involved. Sounds like some sort of nursing student nightmare, holding papers and the teacher runs the school.

Wake up and tell us it was just a dream.

I know my program has 100% pass rate the past two years, and I have heard other schools do as well. perhaps at the time the 98% was the best but it can be done

Hi guys...just to let you guys know that tomorrow is my 4th week waiting from my Board Exam. Wish me luck that I passed. =D
