My school said unless you have extensive work experience in micro they don't allow anyone to take both.
All the schools near by offer micro the same time as my A&P 2 class
I was thinking of taking an online class then taking it again during the summer but that would mean paying twice for the class
All I need is A&P 2 and Micro before I start the nursing courses this fall

Well if your school won't let you take both...you will have to wait. I did it...wasn't difficult but I chose great professors.
Good luck!

Since you are only in the pre-reqs, is there any way you can take Micro somewhere else? How far away is the closest school to you that will allow you take it? I wouldn't let one course delay me thirty, forty, forty five minute drive for one semester beats beats a delay!! If you take the online class why would you have to take the summer course and repeat it? I'm a little confused by that...
Next fall I will be driving an hour and fifteen minutes one way for ONE pre-req class that was not offered at the school I am at.

My school won't let you take them together either. I am going to take A&P II in the spring and Micro online in the summer.

Ditto. Why would you need to take micro twice if you take it online? Online microbiology generally has on campus labs so it is not like you would be missing the "with lab" component. You are just going over the lecture materials and readings independently however the instructor is available to answer your questions and the community colleges in my state usually have online tutoring available as well.

did you ask the microbiology professor (at your current school) if she/he would waiver the a&p2 pre-req for you? this is what i did. i asked my micro professor if she would allow me to take her class while taking a&p2, even though the school didn't want us to. she agreed to let me do this after seeing my grades from the previous semester.
i'm like you, i just want to get the heck through these pre-req's already!
talk to someone at your school, if you feel as though you can handle both micro and a&p2 at the same time. you may be able to take it at your school.
Thank you every one who replied.
It was the chair person of the department who told me that they don't allow anyone to take A&P2 and Micro.
Also, I can't find an online class that offers labs on campus that is close to me.
So, I thought I would take it on line then retake during the summer for the credit.
Does anyone know of a online Micro Class?
Thanks Tina

This semester I am taking prereqs at 2 different community colleges to accomodate my schedule. Why not take A&P at one school and Micro at another like others have suggested?
I have look at all the schools in my area and the Micro is the same time as my A&P2.

I would find out if this is a set in stone rule or simply a recommendation. I was told the same thing by some of the instructors at my college but found out during enrollment that it is only "recommended" that you not take those tough science classes at the same time. I took Physiology, chem 1, and micro in the same semester. It would certainly be worth the effort to dig into this a little more.
