Nurses General Nursing

Hello my friends

I got a call back from a hospital for 2nd interview. Was surprised and happy because the first interview, I went to drop my resume and they just interview me on the spot. And the questions I was asked was what they call Behavioral Interview ( Google it, I just learn about it) Anyway, they caught me off guard but I must have done good , a month later was called for a second.

My 2nd interview, was with the nurse manager, the only questions she asked me was tell me about your self and what can you offer us. Anyway, I was nervous , but answered the questions with my best of the ability. She said it sounds good and told me about the position ( L & D nurse---which I love) and we talked about vacation time as well. Then she took me and introduce me to other nurses and 2 of the nurses took me around and showed me everything including locker room. Everyone was so nice and smiling.I was so excited and happy even too come this far. This hospital is one of Newyork finest private hospital and I am just blown away they are considering me with my ADN and new grad status.

Finally the manager come and get me , asked me if I have any questions , I asked her a couple of questions. Then we were done so she said , Well I still have to do a few interview and recruitment will contact you in a week. Anyway that was it, I send her thank you note once I got home and my desire to work there...etc.

Anyway, what does it mean???? I never reached to interview where they gave me a tour. I know I should be patient but I can't sleep and eat. Can I perdict anything, would they gave a tour and introduction for nothing??? I just want somebody to tell me something. I swear I am struck with anxiety. Please just say something to me , those of you with experience.

Thanks

I recently had an interview as well and they also wanted to show me around (however I actually never got to see my potential future units-I applied for both L and D and peds cause the unit manager got paged and was just busy so now I'm a a sole mercy of only human resource person (sucks because if she didnt like me I basically out!,heh my life story!) So trust me I have been sitting on pins and needles since thursay,I rather have the bad news than just sitting in suspence and beating myself up for making stupid mistakes during the interview process.

I will approach this situation as a learning experience I guess, things get better with time!! GD to U!

Oh Thanks, but its so unprofessional to leave you like that. First of all , when I was called for 2nd interview, I did not even know it was with the manager. I was just told to come back to HR , then The HR guy came out and told me to go see the manager on the floor. Was shocked and happy, my knees were shaking. After that , if she was paged and left the floor, I think I would have just cry. But I spend a good 1 hr walking around and meeting people.

Good luck to you as well. I hope they call you back. You deserve it because after all the preparation you have done! well , thanks for understading, I really appreciate it.

No, it's not unprofessional to leave because you have been paged. Managers set aside time for interviews. Pagers going off indicate something is seriously wrong on the unit. The patient is more important than you.

good luck! it sounds promising and can't wait to hear the positive outcome!

I've seen my director give lots of tours around our unit to people she's interviewing, and then I never see them again. So it's not a sure thing, but I do hope you get your dream job :)

I just had a interview at a teaching hosp. last week I was interviewed by 3 nurse managers and one charge and a tech . It was terrible and was I completely nervous yes, but one nurse manager walked me out to the parking lot and said I did great I GOT the job the very next day after the interview !!!!!!!! So you just never know !!!!

ChulaRN----- Congrats , I am so happy for you! You are right, u could never know, it could go both ways. I was nervous only with the manager, she was intimidating, I was looking for a feedback in her face and I did not see it. But on the floor after she left me with the other nurses... I was relaxed. Then she came back and get me and asked me about if I have any questions... and I only ask one question. I am just rethinking the whole interview and killing myself thinking I should have said it better...or something. Anyway, I emailed her -Thankyou note- but I did not even ask for her contact info( thats how nervous I was), I paniked when I get home, but relaize using her first initial and last name I can find her email address. It went through , but saturday morning woke up in sweats thinking what if there are 2 people with same last name, because her last name is very common and her first initial is A. So went and got a Thankyou card , went to the post office and mailed it. With her name , and the floor number on it. I was told she will receive it On monday (tomorrow)

Now I feel better, hopefully , she will get it in time. She said to expect a respons in a week. I hope they call me or email something tomorrow. I don't know if I can wait until Thursday. But I believe in GOD, I only have positive thoughs left of me, It passed already I can not change it. so just Thank the Lord and wait. That's all I can do. Thank you all for the encouragment and an honest response.

You know, Sometimes I use this forum for theraputic , it makes me feel better talking with people who gets it and who went through what I am going through. Thank you again Dr . Phil's in the form of Nurses.:loveya:

For your next interview keep in mind that they were once in the same position as you were , the nurse managers are humans too lol !!!! Just be yourself and treat the interview as conversation not a interrogation and RELAX!!!

AromaRN, you need to calm down. Coming across as desperate and anxious is not a good way to approach a job search. Try to go and do something fun and relaxing rather than sitting around waiting or you'll drive yourself (and your family!) nuts.

Yep, I was thinking about sending my human resource person a thank you note but I changed my mind.I'm thinking to myself a thank you card note wont change how she feels about me...you know the first impression counts the most...To me it is an all white and black situation...if she felt my positive vibes she will call me back and if she felt that other candidates are a better fit for those position than I guess I will have to keep looking for other job...so like I said the interview is over with no point of beating the dead horse!

you may wish to change your header -- it's very off-putting.
