OK...someone please help me. For the past 2 years I have been getting these weird palpatations, and it feels like my heart is beating in my throat. When it happens, I feel very lightheaded, like I may faint. It usually goes away in about 10 minutes. It used to happen every few months but now it happens every few weeks. IT usually happens when I bend down, but somtimes I will be standing there doing nothing. It happened at work and I put the pulse ox on my finger and it said my HR was 185. I checked it myself and got 180. So I had a nurse double check and it was. It happened the other day at my mom's and my HR was 220! It happened again yesterday. Also, I have been getting chest pain...not bad, just noticeable, even without the palpitations. I am afraid to go to the doctor because a) it might be something bad or B) it may be nothing and I will feel like an ass. It is NOT anxiety, either. It happens when I am doing nothing or bending over to tie my shoes. Please someone tell me SOMETHING. HAs anyone else had this?

So Flo, the curiosity is killing me; how old are YOU?
She stated in a much earlier post that she was 27. :)
I find it odd that you, Flo, insist that it cannot be stress and then jump down anyones throat that even hints at it. Kinda like the pot calling the kettle black, isn't it?
Anyways, do what you want. What the hell do I know?
Leigh
Whoever said I wasn't going to consider taking the advice on this board? I never said that. I wasn't taking ephedra OR caffeine when it happened on Christmas Day.And I haven't taken any ephedra in over a month. I drink maybe 1-2 cups of coffee a day on average. And I HAVE taken into consideration the advice I have gotten. I just do not think it is stress related. I know my body. In school we are always taught to listen to our patients. I guess I feel when someone immediately labels it stress, I feel they are trivializing the problem. If I go to a doc and everything turns up normal, if they want to blame it on stress then, so be it. I would rather it be stress than something more serious.
I never said that I don't experience stress, nurse leigh. I am not calling a kettle anything. I just do not feel that this particular occurence is stress related. I don't feel I am jumping down anyone's throat. I appreciated the feedback I have gotten and I stated so many times. I was done with this thread, but others chose to continue it.
Not that I'm saying your condition is stress-related or anything, but upon reading your posts in reply to these good people who have taken the time to play detective and attempt to help you, you appear to be very stressed out (or just really defensive.) I'm getting chest pains just reading your replies. If you choose not to do anything about you condition- so be it. But don't drag these people into it by asking for their advice (which was very good advice, by the way) and not taking heed to any of it.Originally posted by Flo1216I never said that I don't experience stress, nurse leigh. But nurse leigh...who said I wasn't going to do anything about it? Never once did I say that in any of my posts.(actually I am waiting for my gastroenteritis to clear up first) I appreciate and have considered every single response I have received, even if I don't totally agree with them. By the way, if you are getting chest pain reading this thread, perhaps YOU should look into some stress mx...or perhaps see a cardiologist..STAT:)
Flo, having read this entire thread, I would like to add that if you look back, some of your comments have seemed contradictory. If you are going to see the dr. and get your symptoms checked out great! (altho, I can't see the benefit of waiting for the GI sx to subside). You have had plenty of support and validation for getting a workup and even if it should turn out to be (stress) something situational, that does not mean that the symptoms are not real and of course, potentially life threatening--no matter your age!
PS. please remember that all caps is the cyber equivalent of shouting and you have used that alot when denying the possibility of stress...this could lead others to think of you as defensive or unappreciative.
Just my 2 cents
