I'm a pre-nursing student in Charleston, SC hoping to apply for Medical University of South Carolina's Accelerated BSN program for the spring of 2017.
I'm currently completing the pre-requisites at College of Charleston, which doesn't have it's own nursing program.
I'm going to be applying with around 75 hours including the 60 hours of pre-reqs, and expect to have a GPA of about 3.8.
I'm 19, and I'm planning to apply this summer at the end of my sophomore year, but I'm worried about my chances without a previous degree and some experience working in healthcare. I'll have a good number of hospital volunteer hours, but that's it.
Is there anyone who's currently in the program right now, or has a applied before? What do you think my chances of getting in with my expected GPA and just the pre-reqs are?
You don't need a login and password if you access it from an MUSC computer. If you go to the lobby of their library, you can find some computers that are already logged in and view the page that way.
I think you could technically if you had the musc email and account, but as probably only employees and enrolled students have that, I think this is the best option. I checked on Wednesday and they hadn't posted anything, so I'll look again next week.
I'm checking this board daily!!! I reached out to admissions about a document I sent that wasn't showing up online, and they said they are behind between Labor day weekend, and the hurricane. I'm hoping within the next couple of weeks they will be making decisions and sending letters!!!!
Hi! I haven't been very active recently. We recently moved and my kids started school, so it's been a bit hectic. It's been a good distraction from the waiting though. Now, the anticipation is setting in again. My references came through and that was a relief. I hope your reference from overseas came through as well, Coralie.
Thanks for that update! If no one's heard anything in another week or so I think I'll call them and see what's going on, but I don't want to bug them yet.
Hi all! I've been so nervous for the application decision! I have a 3.37 cumulative GPA and 3.84 prereq. I have one science prereq pending - Microbiology. I work for an oncology practice at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC but I'm relocating to Charleston in November due to my fiances job and to be close to his family. I worked at a start up in sales for a few years before deciding that nursing was the right career for me. I was accepted in to two other programs so far but MUSC is my top choice. I'm so nervous!
I'm not sure why my picture didn't post but the chart online says 23 people are accepted so far and 195 in progress! (10 out of state and 13 in) Best of luck! :)
