MUSC Accelerated BSN Spring 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm a pre-nursing student in Charleston, SC hoping to apply for Medical University of South Carolina's Accelerated BSN program for the spring of 2017.

I'm currently completing the pre-requisites at College of Charleston, which doesn't have it's own nursing program.

I'm going to be applying with around 75 hours including the 60 hours of pre-reqs, and expect to have a GPA of about 3.8.

I'm 19, and I'm planning to apply this summer at the end of my sophomore year, but I'm worried about my chances without a previous degree and some experience working in healthcare. I'll have a good number of hospital volunteer hours, but that's it.

Is there anyone who's currently in the program right now, or has a applied before? What do you think my chances of getting in with my expected GPA and just the pre-reqs are?

Thanks!

Has anyone else who's already applied received any emails from the MUSC financial aid office? I got one yesterday asking me to fill out a couple of forms "so that there is not a delay in your financial aid awards". I thought it was a little strange that they would be taking the time to process financial aid for students who haven't even been accepted yet...

I submitted my application on Thursday, (im not applying priority). I'm still waiting on one reference and I need to send the "courses in progress" sheet, I have not recieved any emails from finacial aid, BUT, I just made corrections to my FAFSA a few weeks ago.

Was it just FAFSA stuff that they wanted? I read your stats, you're probably in good shape to be accepted!!!!

Hi! They said they had my 2016-17 FAFSA, but they wanted additional information about my taxes in 2015, and they also asked me to fill out another form so that they could process my Stafford loan. I was just surprised that they were getting to financial aid so early in the admissions process.

Congratulations on getting your application in, and good luck!

Has anybody heard anything yet?

Not yet! Maybe by next week...I'm getting so nervous!

I did however go and look at this link, which shows application stats, last Wednesday, and it showed that no people had been accepted or rejected,

so the committee must have not met yet or they met at the end of last week or something. I won't be able to go down there until Wednesday again, but

maybe someone else could go look and let us know what you find out--if you go to the lobby of their library, you can use of the computers that's already

open and logged in to check.

Outlook Web App

I live 4 hours away, so unfortunately I can't check from the school's computers. I'm hoping that they start making decisions soon though! The anticipation is killing me.

I wasn't able to go last week, but I'll check sometime this week for sure. They've got to have accepted at least a few people by now!

I just checked yesterday and so far over 200 applicants but they haven't accepted or rejected anyone, so they must not have had the meeting yet.

Ahhh, I can't wait to hear! I wonder how long it will take for them to announce it after the deadline? I'm hoping that most people have their applications in and not many more will be applying. I was looking at some of the posts from previous years, and it looks like they were told sometimetime in October! I don't know if they had a September deadline, but we are looking at about another 4-6 weeks if that's the case! :(

From what I can tell from old threads, some priority people in previous years found out as early as the very beginning of September, and most other around mid-September.

And some regular applicants didn't hear until early November, which is terrible! But they were alternates, I think. I'll check again next week, I can't wait to find out!

Early November ahhhhh I don't think I can wait that long

Were you provided an email and password for that site? If so how did you get it? If not how do you log on?
