I owe a massive amount in loans, 33,000 . I'm just curious to how much others pay in student loans ? My goal is to pay it off in 5-10 years. Seems impossible right now though.

Can anyone explain to me how loan consolidation works in regards to nursing school debt and if it's a good idea?

I think I have about 35k or maybe a little bit more than that to pay, with a two different loans. I have yet to decide how much I will be paying back yet. On the other hand, my husband paid for his BSN out of his own pocket so he has no debt... Until we both go to grad school.

the funny thing is that my lpn was more expensive than obtaining my rn and bsn combined. I thik my lpn loan was around 23k

I have about $19k left, (started with a whopping $42k, but I've paid that much off since July 2014). I only pay $170 a month, though.

My payment is about $110 monthly, but I pay extra. Two loans left, paid one off with our last tax return =) Not sure of total $ amount left though

$100k in loans; I'm in the Pay As You Earn program which is an absolute lifesaver! Payments are capped at 10% of your income (AGI). You have to send the loan servicer your tax forms every year and they use those to re-calculate your payments. If you don't qualify for PAYE, there's Income-Based Repayment which is similar but payments are capped slightly higher at 15% of your adjusted gross income. Worth looking into to see if you qualify for either of those programs if you're drowning in student loan debt.

I had owed 50k$ when I finished, and was aggressively paying it off at 850$/month.(700 to bank loans, 150 to Feaderal student loans)

Proved too much after I got a car/moved in the last year, so cut down to 500/month total.

Had it down to 15$k.

Nice little program for Canadians working in "rural" Canada(under 40,000 population)- can get 4000$ federal debt relief each year.

Borrowed just under $40000. Payments are $402/month. Just paying minimum now while we pay down our other debt. Then will pay more towards it.

Started with 40,000 now I have 30,000. Paying 500 each month. I want to amp up payments on my fee bill at my first school so I can go back to school next year.

I was lucky enough to get scholarships to pay most of it, paid cash for the rest. Saving up for the MSN now. Who wants to owe for an education?

Went to school on grants. And paying cash now for my bsn. I hate debt. Will do the same for my msn if I go back.
