Hi everyone !!! After 5 years I finally decided to pick up where I left off. Time to apply for nursing school
Application period is July 1st - September 1st. I'm coming in with 54 points pre-HESI. Just wanted to wish anyone else out there applying to Mt. SAC good luck with the HESI tomorrow
I have yet to see a thread on this particular application period for Mt. SAC so I hope many more join this thread as we proceed with this tedious journey.
@esli08 - My recommendation is to take your time. It is always better to take 9 Units and get all A's than to take 15 units and get B's and C's. Also be sure to attend the nursing information workshops. I learned all of the information online, but it would have saved me a lot of time and energy if I went to a workshop early on.
In regards to the science classes you need, Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology will probably be the hardest classes you will take prior to nursing school. 98% of students don't take more than 1 of them at a time, while the other 2% has a very hard time. It is highly unlikely to get 2 A's if you take 2 science prereqs at the same time.
Most of all, HAVE FUN and make friends, because some of them might be entering the program with you.
September 1st is fast approaching! I'll be obsessively checking my email everyday! I wonder how long it will take for them to review applications? Hope they've already began reviewing the ones that were sent earlier in the application period. Please post if any of you receive an email.
I hope they have ! But based on my notes from the info sesh those that make the "first cut" so to speak will receive an email about the end of September to set an appt in October to verify all documents (official transcript, etc. ). Once they meet with all 120 candidates they will decide who is in and who is an alternate and official emails will be sent in November.
Keeps your eyes open around the end of September ! And I will certainly keep everyone updated on any emails received

Wow! That's pretty soon. I'm glad I found this thread!!! I took the HESI last month and was satisfied with my score. I applied to 3 other programs, but Mt. SAC is one of my top choices. I hope we all get in Does anyone know where the clinicals are?

Hi there welcome ! Congrats on the good scores btw
I have read on other threads that San antonio is one of them, I want to assume Pomona valley for sure and I remember a mention of CHOC or CHLA one of those. Sorry I don't have the best answer for that one. Not sure where the pscyh rotation would be either. I know for schools in San bernardino county its Patton but unsure of where it would out in LA county. Do you mind if I ask what other schools your applying to?

Ok I snooped : foothill Presbyterian, foothill nursing rehab, I think I remember a facility in San dimas too.
Thanks for the info. I tried looking, but I guess I didn't look hard enough. I applied to Mt. SAC, Pasadena City College, Glendale Community College, and LA County. Last semester I applied for BSN programs at a few Cal States, but didn't get it. So this is my second time anxiously waiting for acceptance
I don't like that PCC and GCC randomly selects qualified candidates, but those 2 are "back up" in case the others don't accept me. Did anyone else apply to programs other than Mt. SAC?
