Mt. SAC application for spring 2016

Published

Hi everyone !!! After 5 years I finally decided to pick up where I left off. Time to apply for nursing school :D

Application period is July 1st - September 1st. I'm coming in with 54 points pre-HESI. Just wanted to wish anyone else out there applying to Mt. SAC good luck with the HESI tomorrow ;)

I have yet to see a thread on this particular application period for Mt. SAC so I hope many more join this thread as we proceed with this tedious journey.

Yclario, are you applying at other schools? If so, is Mt. SAC your first choice?

Going by the last couple of semesters, I think you, futuremurse93, and I have a really good shot of getting in!

I'm casting my net to Mt. SAC and RCC but that's it I can't drive any further plus my pre Reqs are 6 yrs old so those are the only 2 without a recency policy thank goodness! Honestly, my first choice is RCC simply because it is closer and the clinical sites are local. They also have great NCLEX passing rates and their students are on point when they come to the hospital I work at. Plus it's about 15 min from my job so if I'm ever crazy enough to work a night shift after school it wouldn't be a long drive.

Mt. SAC also has a great program too and is a great school overall. My older sister went there for her RT program and loved it. I also know a nurse in our labor and delivery unit who went to Mt. SAC and has nothing but good things to say about it.

So really I would be incredibly honored and blessed to be accepted to either program :)

That would be amazing if we all got in! Your right I've snooped around and we do have a really good shot. I actually have a good feeling about mt. Sac more so then RCC. Nothing but good vibes to us all ;)

Took the HESI at Mt. SAC today. I got 90.40%! I just need to complete my personal statement and submit my application.

Quick question!? Just finished my personal statement but not sure if it's too long. How long was yours if you don't mind me asking ?

My personal statement was a page and a half long (785 words - including title). I was concerned about mine being too long, too, but I just wanted to submit my application already. How long is yours?

Okay phew, we are about the same. I have 738 words, about a page and a quarter. I was trying to bring it down to a page but not sure

Application submitted, phew. Let the waiting begin, yikes!

@Yclario Hi, sorry I have been busy and did not have time to reply. I think I am close to 72 pts. I wish I would have had applied for by adn at my prior school and that would have added more points. Hopefully we all get in :)

Hopefully they get back to us quickly :) Waiting is soo nerve wrecking.

no worries life does get pretty hectic and busy!

did you attend the info workshop ? From what I gathered and wrote down, they chose 60 for the program but will send letters or emails (not sure) to 120 since some may decline the position, etc. so 120 of us should get a letter of some sort by the end of September having us make an appt to verify all documents submitted. From what I have snooped around and read, you will find out where you stand in that meeting and your chances of getting in . If your between 1-60 you have a spot, any ranking after that would be alternate. Then in November a seat will officially be offered and further information provided for mandatory orientation.

I plan on keeping very busy to help pass the time :( my kids should make this a breeze lol.

Are you applying anywhere else ?

@Yclario. No I didn't go to the work shop. I wish I had. I am also applying to El Camino College. Getting ready for the TEAS.

I am with you on the kids keeping us busy. :( I have a very active 2 year old who makes sure I am on my toes :)

Oh no worries not too much was missed. Basically helped those who were confused about the online application and went step by step. It was more like a tutorial plus a Q and A.

Im starting to study for the TEAS too. From what I have researched it is harder than the HESI :'( but Im sure we will be alright :) im giving myself a month and a half to study. I hear the ATI online practice exams are great and harder then the actual test so it really preps you plus tells you what you need to work on.

if we all get in we def have to form a moms study group because we are gonna need all the support we can get ! I told my husband my application was submitted and that I was nervous. He said well don't be the worst that can happen is they say no. I said that's not what I'm nervous about , I'm nervous for a yes! lol only because I know the huge sacrifice we will undergo when in nursing school. But many have done it before us and many will continue to do it after us so us supermoms must stick together :)

Best of luck !

I feel the same way! My boyfriend isn't really that supportive, so I feel alone in this a lot of times. I'll need other support where I can find it! #TeamSuperMom!
