Hi everyone !!! After 5 years I finally decided to pick up where I left off. Time to apply for nursing school
Application period is July 1st - September 1st. I'm coming in with 54 points pre-HESI. Just wanted to wish anyone else out there applying to Mt. SAC good luck with the HESI tomorrow
I have yet to see a thread on this particular application period for Mt. SAC so I hope many more join this thread as we proceed with this tedious journey.
Oh! I also asked about how they determine registration dates for the candidates, since clinical choice is first come first served. She said Mt. SAC students get priority, then it's by the number of units taken, then other students from other schools.
Oh my lanta! That's a wonderful question ! I didn't even think about anything of that sort. So if I completed my bachelors at Csusb I wonder where I land? Gonna have to ask that so I don't end up with clinicals in egypts land somewhere. And yes it's a must ! I gotta meet up with my potential study buddies
Previous Mt. SAC grad here (fall 2014). Clinical site priority is based on your registration date, not if you're not from around here or a Mt. SAC student (you all are now Mt. SAC students) and yes, it's a first come first serve. So if you have first day registration for Mt. SAC classes in general, you get first pick when registering for your clinical site when the time comes. First semester is 4 days a week. 2 days of lecture and 2 days of clinical.

You would be from the "other schools" so you would get a lower priority than Mt. SAC students. Your registration date will also depend on your total units.

Thanks @barcode120x! Can you please tell us what to expect in our first semester? Like, what time classes and clinical start and end? Are there evening, night, or weekend clinicals available?
I assume you guys are starting this coming spring 2016 so it'll still be awhile I guess haha but it doesn't hurt to let you know. Unless they changed the class times and whatnot, Monday is your all day lecture for Fundamentals. Thursday will be your Pharmacology lecture but it'll only be like 3 hours. Your clinicals will either be Tuesday/Wednesday or Saturday/Sunday depending on which clinical site you are at and they will be 8 hour shifts (12 hour shifts begin in 2nd semester). For the first 8 weeks of Nursing 1A you will be at a long term care facility where you will basically be shadowing CNA's and if your lucky, observing RNs/LVNs (but you can't do anything). The next 8 weeks is Nursing 1B where you will actually be in a hospital of your registration choice. There will be no night clinicals/shifts until your last semester for preceptoring. There should be a 4 day, ALL day (yes ALL day and its boring) orientation sometime in January where they will go over everything and anything you need to know and have by the time 1st semester starts.

Yea that's true too. I'll see what the margarita tells me to do this weekend lol. And on another note. I hope this doesn't come off as clingy lol but I'm on the RCC spring 2016 thread and it already doesn't have the feeling of we're all in this together. I think it's because of the amount of people that apply is so huge that its more of a competition? I don't know but based on this thread I feel that people who apply to mt sac are already my type of peeps
but if the margarita tells me to apply still I appreciate you telling me about the similarity to the HESI. That makes me feel so much better
