Specializes in Everything except surgery.

I have heard from travelers, that Swedish was a great place to work, but I have also heard that employees of Swedish felt they weren't treated well.

Sorry didn't mean to say were, meant to say weren't!

Thanks! Anne

Hello all...

Grew up in Spokane...

Currently enrolled in an RN diploma prog in Pennsylvania. When I graduate in two years I'd love to work at UW. Should I even bother applying without any experience??

Thanks for any input!!

UW hires new grads all the time!

If you are interested in Pediatrics, Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center is a great place to work. They have a New RN support group which is really beneficial with getting all types of speakers to come to talk about Medical information to people to come and talk about benefits. The group gets to decide what to talk about. The orientation is wonderful too! They really take the time to make sure you feel comfortable in your skills. I started there as a New Grad and it was the best thing I did.

Specializes in Med-Surg, free clinic.

UW has new grad classes after two or three months. They are very supportive and have a FIVE week orientation for new grads.

They will also pay to move you here from Penn.

Try Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, it was a wonderful place to work, i did travel nursing there for 4 months on the cardiac floor and just loved it, hated to let it go!! great people to work with as well!!!

Specializes in L & D; Postpartum.

Any nurse who is paid to move, given a huge sign-on bonus is going to be far happier than one of the old-timers who's paid the piper over the years.

Recruitment seems to be far more important than retention. That's the biggie right now on our negotiating table

I am currently per diem at Evergreen in Kirkland (across the lake from seattle) they do not have many openings and are planning on some layoffs (I dont believe nurses will be effective) It is a nice friendly low key hospital, friendly people, nice facility, good docs etc.

Have heard good things about Swedish, UW, and Valley Medical center in Renton. Harborview is worth checking out if you are interested in working at out county hospital which is a level I trauma center for the PNW region. Overlake Hospital is a nice cushy place to work. Group Health is falling apart, I cant remember who has purchased them....

Good luck! Seattle is a great place!

I just went on staff at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, across the sound from Seattle. I worked as a traveler here for a year, and liked the area and hospital so much decided to stay. Good luck.
