Hello everyone I am just starting a thread to see if anyone else plans on applying to Mountain View in the fall for spring 2020. Or anyone who goes there how many points should I strive for to get into the programs. Hope to hear from y’all.

Thanks for the correction. But yeah, MVC still gives you longer class time and summers off.

She didn’t think that you are strictly required to buy from the bookstore. Something about the book package is supposed to give you a nice discount. I also asked about comparing prices; she said we will probably be able to do so. Typically some professors will allow older versions of the book but idk how strict the nursing professors will be.
The bookstore doesn’t have the book package nor do they have the booklist yet. The bookstore said that they do not know when the nursing dept will give them the list either, so just call in periodically.I’m guessing that we will be able to get the book list by success camp...hopefully.
? I wanted to get a head start on the fundamentals book reading with the approved book for MVC.
I like your thinking. My brother who obtained BSN from 4 yr institution told me that he rarely opened the books required for the college and stopped buying the books by the second semester of the first yr of nursing school. He told me, the info taught can be obtained by googling, powerpoint, etc., and that it's way more efficient that way. So, I'm a bit hesitant dishing out nearly $1400 when there's no need for it.
After careful brainstorming, I have found out that Brookhaven is too fast-paced for me. There are classes that are only 5 weeks and 6 weeks with the same amount of information to digest and also the same amount of coursework to be completed. While I will be working part time during the program I think MVC is the best option. I have decided to pursue MVC. Also I heard that some faculty members at Brookhaven are too uptight, recording the lecture are not even allowed, even laptop computers are not allowed not unless the course uses an ebook.

I agree, there’s so many different forms of material that we can use to help supplement our education in this field. It isn’t an absolute requirement to buy expensive learning materials anymore but I understand the need for unified information due to the book specific exams. Although quality learning generally depends on the person in regards to learning material and what works best for themselves personally.
I’ve acquired a few books while trying to get a head start on our foundations semester so I was hoping that I only needed a handful of the books on the book list. I‘m going to play it by ear so that I can minimize spending. I bet there will be quite a few times that last minute things will pop up that we will have to pay for during the next 2 years.
I have a few versions of the Fundamentals of Success & RN NCLEX Saunders test prep on pdf if anyone wants a copy; for anyone that wants to start working on answering nursing questions early.

I’m pretty sure it’s all of the skills supplies that we will be using and getting tested on during the skills portions. Different catheters, pads, gauze, NG tubes, etc.
