Mountain View Spring 2020 application.

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone I am just starting a thread to see if anyone else plans on applying to Mountain View in the fall for spring 2020. Or anyone who goes there how many points should I strive for to get into the programs. Hope to hear from y’all.

The academic ranking (grade letters of prerequisite/supporting courses) is rather clear, what isn't clear, however, is the non-academic ranking (interview and the written sample). In my estimation, the interview and the written sample constitute a significant portion of admissions consideration.

Dress well and prepare well for the written sample and interview, this could potentially get you in with weak academic points, or guarantee you admission with strong academic points. I've read some students with excellent academic points but got denied because of poor performance on interviews or writing samples.

My suggestion is that, aim for strong academic points and ace the interview and the written sample and acceptance will be a breeze.

In my recollection, the MVC nursing program received 150 applicants for the Spring 2020 cohort and 50 were accepted, that's 33% acceptance rate--a rather high acceptance rate for a nursing program.

Being a male might give one an edge as schools strive for diversity. All the males I've seen during my interview were incidentally accepted. Nursing is a historically female-dominated profession, thus, gender might account for something (but don't rely on it though).

Hope this was useful to you!

Thank you so much for that information. It was extremely helpful!

If y’all are talking about the rank calculation sheet, you‘ll fill it out together with the program coordinator. You do not receive a copy of it.
BTW, just talked to the bookstore manager. The book that the Nursing program added on isn’t anything inexpensive. It’s a $250 book which means that the price quoted to us at success camp will probably rise to an additional $150-200.

guesstimated arrive of book packages will be first or second week of Jan.

Those costs are racking up really fast. Be sure to save receipts for next year's tax deductions!

Does anyone know how many points physical education is worth? I swear last application I thought it was only worth 1 point. Also, what did everyone do about having insurance at time of application?!

Hello all, I am applying for the fall semester. Since some of you guys have already done this process, maybe yall can help me out. The PA who did my physical left the TPR and vision and hearing portions blank on my physical exam. Is that okay? Did that happen to you guys? If not, what did they put there? Maybe I can go back and asked her to fill that stuff in.

Everything has to be filled out

Has anyone gotten their skills pack we ordered online (addressed to school) or we'll just pick up the first day of classes? I ordered mine about a weak ago and I'm a bit nervous.

Things to bring the first day of school:

1. Penlight

2. Stethoscope

3. PB Cuff

4. Watch with a second hand

5. Medical scissors

6. Black pens & pencils

Uniform:

1. Scrubs

2. White shoes

Am I missing anything? I just came back from a 45-day international trip and got sidetracked for a while, any input is greatly appreciated!

I have an interview for fall semester! Can anyone tell me what interviews are like?

Congratulations to you all on your acceptance! I'm applying for the fall 2021 semester would any of you be willing to email me the syllabus for theory/lecture for your (fall) first semester as well as the current theory/syllabus for this Spring 2021 semester, please? I would greatly appreciate it. I want to get a head start on the reading as I am a slow learner and I have no room or time for failure. My kids are depending on me to do this.   My email is [email protected]
